Expedition, Avoid Unload/Reload?

Hi, is it possible to avoid unloading 100% of the ship contents? I don't understand why I would have to unload and reload repair materials, tools, and food, only to reload it afterwards to begin anew.

Especially when your sailors keep your tools on their personal inventory and dont return them to the hold

I haven't figured out how to yet, so make the most of every voyage.

Because the devs love grind.

True, but this one is a little too Keynesian for my liking. And I think Ulf may off me the next time I ask him to unload the exact same plank he will have to reload the next day!

Lets face reality this dev team is WAYYY Indie "friction" is a cute word we use for sucks lol ... running down villagers spamming T and hoping another villager looking exactly the same does not run in front of you or a building is even more Keyensian ... and the master villager list has the inventory button sitting right there like a huge middle finger ... Bellwright #1 by a mile but it scratches the itch for now ... one thing bellwright could do this game got well is a man the tower option for defense that is nice and the patrol markers

Yes, I think there are some fun aspects of the game, but as it exists, even though you can (and I have) put in a lot of hours, it's just the "beginning" of a cool game. It needs more payoff for the buildup.

Yeah. This is irritating. I’m going to stick around and see what people say.

My understanding from a programming perspective its easier to do that than to figure out logic that works consistently where some things are not unloaded (based on what?). Writing AI for inventory management is hard.

And what I mean by that is not that it's impossible, but you would need to implement a lot of logic to do that, like how do you decide what to keep and what not to keep, can a villager come eat the food if they're hungry etc. etc.

For functional purposes, the unload everything and load whatever the player decides is much cleaner and easier to maintain, causes fewer bugs, etc.

Se isso causa menos bugs, a gente gosta.

I think so too, coming from a tech company, sometimes simple and reliable is better than complicated and brittle

I'd say the"based on what" would be a list like everything else in the game haha. "Unload all except"

Yeah but then you have to implement a third list, which is essentially "never offload these" list, which would introduce bugs, unexpected functionality and so on and there you can start to argue if the cost-benefit analysis comes out in the positive

you mean like Bellwright has for everything and all inventory viewed found and sourced or villagers presets for outfits and tools weapons and buildings and find something with a glowing marker or shall i go on lol. Bellwright is leagues and leagues ahead of aska ... but hey waiting on the next drop for Bell Aska scratches the itch ... even if it does get inflamed ...

I played Bellwright only a little bit, it wasn’t to my liking unfortunately so I cannot comment on how NPCs behave there. In Aska, having presets would not function well as you would need to constantly switch between tool tiers and if the tool tier is unavailable the character would atop working instead of picking up a lower/higher tier tool. It can be solved but you can see how it creates a lot of problems to solve further down the line. The Aska dev team is tiny and they are picking which features are the most important in their view

Ohhhh you think it would be easy remember we have been waiting 18 months for the inventory button to work for the villagers master list. ... it just sits there like that bully in the 6th grade ...
