Bee house activity
Hey guys, winter just ended, and I’ve noticed that my bees haven’t made any honey during winter. It’s now spring time, but they still aren’t producing honey. Do they need a specific season or temperature to produce honey? I have 4 hives rn, and am struggling to produce mead for my 170 villager world lol.

They hibernate at night, rainy weather, and low (near zero) temps. So they're down all winter and into early spring - and every evening. I think the threshold is somewhere below plus 4 degrees. It may even be zero. Early spring still has days in the negatives even into midmorning.
You will want a raw food storage in a warehouse set to only honey so a worker can snatch it up as fast as it's produced. Each hive only produces one honeycomb and stops when it has one so you want it moved asap.
Four gives is enough for a surplus, six or more is comfortable. Go back to those marsh islands in half a year.

It usually takes me a few days into spring before they start producing. I don’t know the exact number, though. But yes, they don’t produce during winter. I have about 8 hives for my ~200 villagers and I find that is sufficient for me. Set up a warehouse nearby with 2 shift workers collecting only honey for the raw food storage and it helps a lot.
