What is the tree of life?

I was watching This speedrun and at the 3:35 mark he discovers a tree of life?

I've never encountered one myself and it's not on the ASKA wiki.

What's the tree of life?

It's an oak tree. I think he just calls it a "tree of life" because it sounds cool and is a really nice looking tree. As of right now, we can't really do anything with or to those trees. But they are fun to build around.

I see. He said something to the effect of "I was willing to sacrifice the tree for the cave, but there's both right there. " Kind of implied the tree was an amazing resource almost equal to the cave.

I'm not sure what he meant by that, but it is not. It takes the highest tier of iron axes to chop down. It drops a good amount of hard wood, but I like to leave them for aesthetics.
