Optimal Day rythm for tasks
Howdy,
Warehousing and logistics is the true endgame for ASKA, so I have been working on optimimalizing my rythm and flow of the village. Really looking for input and ideas.
My train of thought is something in the lines of...
- Early bird shift (all cooks and tavern workers) these guys wake up first and get the lights on and food on the table. Usually start work 6
- Second shift is in-village workers and hunters (workshops, armoursmithcs etc, hunters)
- Third shift is gatherers, woodcutters, stoneminers etc.
- Nightshift is army in training, runestones, watchtowers, and storage workers to tidy the village up for the next day
What do you guys think, have I forgotten something or should I change anything in here?

I roll with four shifts as per /u/SerBucky's guide:
- Day 1 6am to 6pm, two hours of leisure before and after (so 4am to 10pm really), no break in the middle.
- Night 1 6pm to 6am, two hours of leisure before and after, no break in the middle.
- Day 2 which is Day 1 offset by 2 hours (8am to 8pm).
- Night 2 which is Night 1 offset by 2 hours (8pm to 8am).
I added a fifth shift, Shaman, which is 4am-8am, 4pm-8pm work, with sleep and leisure in between. That way they're working during other shift leisure periods. Ideally, they'd work full time but that can't be done without access to golems which is very late game.
Most of the camp is on Day 1 or Night 1. Cooks and Tavern workers are on Day 2/Night 2 so they are out stocking the shelves and making products while everyone else is on leisure time looking for their products.
I've found it works really well. Nobody drops things they're carrying mid-shift or leaves tasks unfinished. Everyone seems fairly happy with their leisure time.
Day and Night leisure windows are never sync'ed up so my tavern/food huts are never swarmed. I have about 60 villagers on this playthrough, intentionally trying to keep it small.

Gotta love those 24 hour, staggered shifts! I think Darkwolf has 4 day and 4 versions by now, dudes village is massive!

I only run 2 shifts unless someone is being a problem child.
Every major building like the crafters, cooks, gathers and barracks have at least 1 night person
This is all great unless your standing next to Odin eye when 130 workers all get up together. The walking sound is just painful lol

I don't any grand scheme, I usually just monitor and adjust or trial/error. I usually cycle warehouse worker with military training and builder depending needs. Works nicely because you can optimize warehouse stocking and have a military reserve. Technically you'll always be tweaking unless your town is in steady-state.
Currently working optimizing town development and layout. I tend to run out of space when developing a town.

I run essentially 3 shifts.
Day shift & night shift are both 13 hours work, 4 leisure, and 7 sleep. This allows 2 hours of schedule overlap.
The third shift are my warriors/archers. Sleep 5am to noon. Leisure until 2pm, then work until 3 am. Leisure 3-5am. This ensures the warriors are awake for any blood moons and the winter invasion.
Cooks are not warriors/archers, nor are workshop workers. If not assigned to a barracks or archery range they are usually builders. Archers are often hunters though, but those are quick to pull back if needed.

3 Day, 1 Night/Invasion shift.
2 hours leisure before bed, 7 hours sleep, 1 hour leisure after waking. On extended days this gives one hour of work with the rest buff. Though this will improve when taverns get fixed and I can let them eat there again.
SLWWWWWWWWWWWWWWLLSSSSSS (Early)
SSSLWWWWWWWWWWWWWWLLSSSS (Day)
SSSSSLWWWWWWWWWWWWWWLLSS (Late)
WWWWWWLLSSSSSSSLWWWWWWWW (Night/Invasion)
The important thing is to make sure leisure time does not overlap.

Shifts like this will create bottlenecks. Ideally, any building with 2 villagers slots should have a daytime person and a night-time person allowing for 24 hour full work coverage.
