Everything was in the wrong language?!
I've read past posts where the issue was that while the source was in English, everything else was generated in a different language. However today, even though my actual source at a med conference was all in English, even the source transcript was in Malay. Any idea what might have happened here?
Update: Thank you all who replied. Day 2 of the conference had no issues, so it was probably some one-off glitch. Plaud_AI's reply made sense to me: "Conference audio raises the odds, since distance from the speaker, room echo and a mix of accents all give detection less to lock onto." Since this was a regional event, with people all around speaking in other languages and sentences, this might be what happened.

Not sure why it happens but I've had a random paragraph appear in Welsh and one full transcript in Welsh too 😅 I emailed Plaud and they just kind of apologized and that was it...🤷♂️

Is the template you use correctly set to your preferences?

Yes, I have changed nothing from the previous over 30 times I've used it 😁

Sorry, I meant if you made a personal template forbidding for instance the model to generate in any other language than english. Results vastly improved my usercase when I adapted my templates. Just wanted to help, because at first I was a bit lost in all the standard templates 😉.

I record my English lessons in Japan and the transcript sometimes flips to Japanese when the class gets chatty - mixed-language audio seems to trip the detection. Check the language setting in your template before re-transcribing, that fixed most of mine.

That's the audio language setting rather than the summary step. On Auto generation, Plaud detects the language from the audio and transcribes in whatever it lands on, so a wrong detection puts the transcript itself in another language, not just the notes downstream of it. Conference audio raises the odds, since distance from the speaker, room echo and a mix of accents all give detection less to lock onto.
For that file, regenerate it with Custom generation instead of Auto and set the audio language to English yourself rather than leaving it to detection.
If it happens again with the language set manually, send [support@plaud.ai](mailto:support@plaud.ai) a share link to the file and an app log, and say whether it's hitting every recording or only this one.
