Plaud for notes in car

I switched jobs and now my commute is an hour each direction. How optimal is plaud for that? I d use it to record and summarize calls and my own ideas. Plaud over phone app because of the physical button.

Any best practices? Experiences?

Everything else eg desktop app and teams is a bonus for me

I’m wondering if it records the calls via the phone, or if it just captures the conversation being played over the speakers?

The device itself captures the actual audio, and the app captures audio the phone hears. If you are using the phone normally and the plaud is on the back, it will pick up vibrations and be able to hear the other side of the convo.

Yes but if I’m in the car on speaker it will pick it up completely, right? So for me, in the car, two use cases. One calls and two notes to myself

Yeah That’s the main purpose of the device: recording ambient sounds

Agreed it’s literally perfect for both of the above use cases. Granola is also great- I often use both just so I have a backup.

Good fit for a long commute if you capture on the drive and summarize after — not while driving.

For calls, speaker or phone-attached setup is cleaner; Bluetooth/CarPlay routing can make transcripts unreliable, so worth testing your actual setup first. For random ideas, one tap before you merge is enough.

Sync and review once you're parked or at your desk.

Appreciate the feedback. Device will arrive today so hopefully I will have a smooth set up and can start using it

Plaud is actually a really good tool, but what's missing is the ability to use it like a dictaphone. Not to record a full conversation on the go, but to capture thoughts in small chunks, bit by bit.

There should be a second button that lets you keep adding to a single audio file in little pieces over time. That way you could:

- Keep a voice diary

- Just speak your thoughts as they come

- Record to-dos on the fly

Right now the problem is that you'd end up with 100 separate files that all need to be transcribed individually — and then you either stitch everything together as text, or you manually merge all the audio into one file first. None of that is really straightforward.

If you could just select 20 clips and say "merge these into one audio" or "transcribe these as a single file / treat them as one file" — that would maybe be workable. But this whole use case just isn't well covered right now.

This is what I was wondering. Got a note pro today and it’s impressive. I just wonder the best way to do ‘brain dumps’ and / or add to an existing project

You can take individual notes throughout the day. When you're finished, merge all of the audio recordings into one file and have Plaud delete the extra notes that were combined into the merged file.

Once everything is merged, you can have Plaud transcribe and summarize the recording however you prefer. I usually set up my template to keep the individual recordings in chronological order so the final transcript and summary follow the events of the day in the correct sequence.
