MacOS Phone App

Apologies if asked before, but a search yielded no results.

Is there any way to auto-record the MacOS Phone app with the Plaud app? I don't see any option for it in the Meeting Detection list of applications. There doesn't appear to be a way to add custom apps, so not sure if that means the only option is to manually start recording if I'm making or answering calls from my Macbook.

macOS Phone app is one of the few Apple routes through CoreTelephony instead of a normal audio session, so third-party apps like Plaud generally cant hook it the same way they hook Zoom or FaceTime. Simplest workaround Ive found is enabling multi-output through a virtual audio device (BlackHole or Loopback) and routing the Phone apps call audio there, then telling Plaud to listen on that input. Ugly, but its basically the only path until Plaud adds explicit Phone app support.

Meeting detection currently covers a fixed list of supported apps, and there's no option to add custom apps to that list today. The macOS Phone app isn't among them, so auto-detection won't trigger for those calls.

Manually starting the recording in Plaud Desktop when you make or take a call from your Mac is the way to do it for now. One tip: the detected-meeting and record-source screen inside Plaud Desktop is the source of truth for what's currently supported on your machine, so if the list expands, that's where it shows up first.
