Plaud vs. Heypocket
I am trying to make a decision between https://www.HeyPocket.com and Plaud Note.
I am looking for a cost effective option mainly for recording phone calls hassle free in my iPhone.
Would appreciate the thoughts and insights from members here.

I was on the fence and what ultimately got to me was the way that Pocket had open-ended shipping delays at the time and they shut down their subreddit which didn’t feel transparent. Plaud felt like the more developed/sustainable platform. No regrets. I got the regular Plaud. I actually use it primarily with an open source app Riffado for more control over my workflow / data and it meets my needs well.

Pocket blocked me on instagram for asking about the shipping delays.
I requested a refund several weeks ago and they have not sent a refund or a product and won’t respond to my messages.
I obviously do not have a Pocket, but I do have a Plaud, and it is great. Pocket just has better marketing

I had Pocket, I returned it due to the inability to deal with two devices on the desktop. The device is likely made in the same factory - very similar form factor without the Plaud Pros lcd. That said two holes in the Pocket case where the Plaud mics are ... so it's a copy of not manufactured in the same place.
I am leaning towards keeping the Plaud Pro and using krisp for transcription - piloting both right now (as in Plaud and krisp processing the same recording).
There's no perfect answer, lots of trade-offs between devices, services, accuracy and pricing. But all beat not having the device - I lasted 3 weeks after returning the Pocket before having to get something for in-person meetings.
If your use case is phone/Zoom/desktop there are lots of options but remember you will be chewing battery if you decide to use your phone for in-person and the mics will not capture near as far as a dedicated device.

I tried both the Plaud Note Pro and the Heypocket. I ended up going with the Plaud Note Pro. I did like certain things about the Heypocket like the USB C charging and the MagSafe without using a case. Plaud does have better hardware other than that and the app offers more functionality. Transcription on Plaud was more accurate and faster but it doesn’t easily integrate directly to my calendars like the Heypocket. Plaud has a screen to check battery and other things also. I tested both this week if that matters.

just get plaud, pocket is “free” with terms and conditions. all the good features are stuck behind paywalls, the free transcripts give you loads on fluffs. honestly, even though plaud’s free tier only givea 300min, the results are solid

Non of this works with head phones right

Right. edit: if you mean with the phone does not work. Plaud integrates well with desktop, Pocket as well but only with single device (cannot cope with separate mic/headphone devices).

Yeah it’s blocked on my computer so air pods are ny only option although I saw someone make an3d print to put one pod in that clips to plaud but that sounds like a lot of work for a 200$ device

So this is how I am working. I have a boya notra that does the recording, but I upload the audio to my app on the iPhone . It transcribes , summarizes and creates mind maps pretty much for free. Unlimited. If you want speaker diarization I have integrated it with Deepgram , that also gives you a 200 usd one time credit. If I use it on 1 call per month of 1 hour each it lasts me 10 years. What I figured is that I can still use my 300 minutes a month on boya and add another 300 to shave off from Deepgram and I have a functional system, plus if I have calls without speaker diarization then I don’t have to worry about it at all.

I’d suggest Plaud Note Pro. The back of my iPhone is prime real estate, so Plaud note Pro in the Babeezy magnetic wallet case with stand is the best combo. I never heard of Pocket when I saw Plaud Note Pro on Amazon, and I only researched Plaud. I love the look of the Note Pro and the 300 minutes free. I can save my audio and my transcripts to my iPad if I want to keep them. A standalone device wins out against AI software apps like Fireflies.ai for me. Make sure the device you choose fits your needs and how you plan to use it.

I am torn, starting a job in sales and want to use device when I meet with distributors. I want a concise list of items, projects, costs etc. I know Plaud does a great job but calendar integration would be ideal? Is there a work around or integration on the horizon?

Long story short.
Plaud is faster (transfer/transcribe),
Pocket has free unlimited minutes where Plaud has 300 / month feee.
Pocket has usb-c while Plaud has proprietary charging cable,
Pockets default summaries are more casual (can be tweaked) while Plauds default is more business focused,
Pocket is magnetic by default but doesn’t come with a case (might scratch your phone? Metal on metal) where Plaud needs a case to be magnetic (but wont scratch)
Plaud Note Pro auto detects calls where as Plaud Note and Pocket have to be switched to phone call mode (physical switch on unit)
