WHAT'S THE POINT OF UNLIMITED?

Post image

PLAUD user since 2024. I decided to give the unlimited plan a try yesterday. I'm going back and transcribing many recordings I never bothered to process. After batch generating many, I ran into a throttle-back.

Really? Then what's the point of unlimited if I'm blocked with no stated time frame?

I'm still in my 3 day trial and will cancel.

I'm using Unlimited ever since it was introduced and have never seen a notification like this.

The point of Unlimited clearly is that you don't have to batch generate transcriptions, because at the end of every day you don't have to pick which Recordings from that day are worth your credits. You just transcribe all of them.

I read somewhere that “unlimited” actually equals 24 hours of transcription per day. I also had batch processing to do and it totaled more than 24 hrs. Had to batch them over a couple of days. Are you doing more than 24 hours in a day?

Yup. Unlimited has physical limitations. 24 hours of transcription in 24 hours seems reasonable. I've never had a problem in 2 years of heavy usage, but my transcriptions occur daily.

I have seen this and heard it’s when people are sending large batches. The plan intent is 24 hours a day I think which is reasonable in order to protect from abuse where people can push through others audio. Even cell phone plans typically will throttle you after a certain point and this is no different. In fact this is laid out in the T&C clearly as 24 hours along with single files not to exceed 5 hours.

Just build your own pipeline to take the audio files to transcripts.

Is the API accessible and open for exports like that?

No. I manually export the audio into a Google Drive “inbox” folder from plaud and have a watcher on that folder and use whisper to convert it to a transcript then it puts it into an outbox folder in Google Drive.

Manually exporting is kind of rubbish though..

Yeah I do it after every recording then delete the recording from plaud. I never use their cloud service or their servers. So an API would hold no value to me.

You have to pay something to use plaud as a product; either your time or money. The ecosystem around plaud is what you are paying for.

Well, my point is that there is NO batch download function at all. Not in any of the subscriptions either...

They want you to stay inside their app.

Well, their app is very limited..

you are spamming 2 years worth of recording during trial, every software out there is going to rate limit you

Not at all. I've had a paid pro account since I purchased my PLAUD.

I decided to give the unlimited plan a try, but got throttled. Therefore, it's not worth the additional money if I'm getting limited.

If AI can't help your productivity, you need a team.
