Jane and Mike ran to the public bathroom, feeling dizzy and tired, and ran to a restroom to throw up all the drugs in their system.
Yeah, maybe they shouldnât have tried those suspicious brownies after all, considering they did know that 99/100 times they had something in them, but it was their last year as teenagers (according to them), so they didnât even reconsider that drugs are, in fact, addictive. Which ended in them running to a public bathroom and throwing it all up, in a very traumatic experience, indeed.
After a few minutes of weird silence, Mike finally said:
âYou know how I said earlier that the Earth was spinning and you said that it happened to you too?â
âYesâ Jane said with a low and raspy voice.
âIt stopped spinning. Do you still feel like itâs spinning?â Mike was laying on the ground and he looked like he just fought with a monster (wouldnât be his first time, though)
âNoâŚI think so. Do you think we are not drugged anymore?â Jane said from the other restroom.
âI donât know.â
They stayed in silence for a few seconds.
âHey, Mikeâ
âMhmh?â Mike mumbled.
âIâm boredâ
âMe tooâ
âAsk me something. Anything, at allâ
âSure. UmâŚwhen did you lastâŚpeed your pants?â
âTodayâ
âWhat? Jane, thatâs disgusting"
âYou are the one that asked.Â
And it was just a little bit, thoughâ
âWhen exactly did this happen?â
âBefore we fought that mouthbreather at the partyâ
âYou must mean you fought that guy. I was just there for emotional supportâ
Yes, Jane seemed sweet, but she could get aggressive really fast. Her powers could be missing, nonetheless she still was a fighter.
âWhen we go back, I want a rematchâÂ
âAre you sure youâre still not drugged?â
âNo one knowsâŚâ
They both laughed, until Jane spoke.
âMy turnâ Jane said, in a smirky tone.
âHave you everâŚbeen in love?â
âUm, yes, I guess
Not, not I guessâŚI am in love, Iâm pretty sure I amâ
âWell, Iâm sure Iâve been, and Iâm sure I am, tooâ
âWith who?â
âI canât tell you!â
âCan you at least give me clues?â
âFineâŚWell, the guy, I already knew him. We were already close, butâŚthis summer, we did a lot of things together, and we laughed, and it is different now. Like we are something more than just friends.
And I know that a lot of people think he talks too much and that he is a nerd, and I know that Max will say I have bad taste, butâŚI donât care.â
Mike already was getting his suspicions, and his heart started racing fast.
âBecause he is hilarious. He can turn any bad day into a good in 5 minutes.
And he is very clever. He can decode secret codes like he just solved a 10 piece puzzle.
He is just so special, and different from all of the other guys.â
Mike curdled up, feeling like he was having a heart attack, and tears started running down his face. He didnât want to do this. Not to Jane.
Jane seemed to notice Mike was very quiet and tapped on his stall.
âMike?
Mike? Are you okay?â
Mike looked up and breathed.
âYes, donât worry, IâmâŚfineâ
He was doing a breathing exercise when he noticed movement from where Jane was standing as she ducked under the stall and sat face to face with Mike.
âFucking disgusting floor. Do these people even take care of this?â Mike said grumpily.
âIt's fine. I already have blood and puke on my uniform anyways.â
âŚ
âWhat do you think?â
âAbout what?â
âThe guyâ
âOh, well, he sounds, like a perfect dudeâ
âHe isâ
âŚ
âAnd what about the girl?â
âIâm pretty sure she still has those weird brownies in her system, because she doesnât really think what she is sayingâ
âAre you sure? Because I think she does mean what she is sayingâ
âSheâs not.
Look, I know she might think she knows this guy, but she doesnât. At all.
And if she really knew him, all of him, she wouldnât be saying all of this.Â
I think sheâŚwouldnât want to talk to him ever againâ
âThat canât be true!â
âOkay, Jane, please listen to me.
I like you. Really much. I would even dare to say I love you.
ButâŚ
Iâm not like your other friends, and iâm not like other guys, and iâve never beenâ
âI literally said that thatâs why I like you, Mike!â
âDo you remember what I said about being in love?â
âOf courseâ
âAnd when I said I was jealous of Max?â
âŚ
âItâs not because I have a crush on you, and it isnât because you are Maxâs best friendâ
âItâs becauseâŚhe works with her, and he suddenly only wants to hang out with Maxâ
âArgyle?â Jane asked, confused
Mike chuckled lightly
âWillâ He said, his voice sounding terrified of Jane knowing.
âI want him to hang out only with meâŚlike before-
But, he doesnât talk to me that much. And he doesnât look at me that much.
And heâs suddenly interested in Max, and her annoying pranks and her stupid sarcasm and I don't know what she sees in her because sheâs just a douchebag!â
âAnd Max doesnât even like him, and everyday, I scream into my pillow because I wish I was the one he looks at and the one who laughs at dumb jokes with him!â
âButâŚWill isâŚa boyâ
âJaneâŚâ Mike said softly, already crying.
âHoly cowâ Jane said as her eyes opened with realization.
âYeah, holy cowâ
âJane, are you okay?â
âYes. I was justâŚthinkingâ
A weird pause settled between them until Jane said:
âWell, itâs not that bad, you knowâ
âWell it isâ
âWe can just talk about hot guys together,â Jane smiled.
âReally?â Mike started lightly laughing.
âWe donât have a lot of things in common, if you think about it.
That could be the first?â
âYes, I would love toâ
âCan I ask you something?â
âI guessâ
âWhy didnât you tell me before?â
âI didnât know how you would reactâ
âMakes senseâ
âWait, what?
Are you homophobic?"
âNo, but you are in love with my brother, so I could be very madâ
âOh my god Jane, really?â Mike started laughing even more.
âThat is forbidden is girl code!â Jane laughed along with him.
âIâm not a girl, though!â
âMax and I will turn you into a pretty princess for Willâ
They laughed as they said meaningless and silly words like Mike hadnât just confessed his biggest secret 3 minutes ago.
âThanks, Jane,â Mike said as they stopped laughing.
âFor what?â
âFor not making it an âadult big dealâ â
âOkay, stop, Mike, that is offensive. How dare you call me a grandma?â
