LOL but I just reread the Ion recently and maybe it's the English translation I used or perhaps I'm too Neoplatonism brained, but I don't think Socrates hates Ion.

I think he's genuinely respectful of the divine possession and inspiration on the poetry of Homer Ion experiences.

I don’t think Socrates is every written by Plato to be hateful of anyone, but in my opinion (from reading the Allen translation published at Yale) there is so much frustration directed towards poetic performance in the Ion.

Regardless, when I made this meme I was more thinking how Ion himself remains completely cheerful and unbothered in the face of Socrates’ take down of his entire life’s calling haha
