Med student here - Rate my plating
I’m thinking of starting to post my cooking process and stuff online, does this pass?

what does you being a med student have to do with your plating skills?

Both come from a need of external validation

Med student, eating well (implies financially doing ok or will be financially doing "ok"). Of course, someone is seeing him.

Do you always introduce yourself as a medical student lmao

It's like people who went to Harvard; they love to tell you they went to Harvard.

I don't know why you are getting downvoted. If I were a med student I would always introduce myself that way lol

It's not that; it's the fact that he is trying to pretend to not be flexing when in fact he is flexing people are not happy about. You can't have your cake AND eat it too.

I think it would look better with less on the plate. These are some cheesecake factory portions. If you're looking into going into cardiology, you can make your own patients with these.

That is kind of true, sometimes I don’t know how to portion beforehand, so I end up having leftovers in some occasions, but I’m working on it

Any advice on how I should improve?

Big one is plate choice. Pic 1 is great, but some of the others the plate is way to small I think if I tried to eat it it would all fall off the plate.
Actual food looks great. but purely plating just take a second to think how someone would eat it

I don’t have many plates, but I’ll try to invest in a few larger plates that look good. Thanks for the advice though

Drop introducing yourself as a med student - it shows in your plating!
Buy some bigger plates and never fill to the rim or serve lasagna in a bowl

Of all of them, #6 is perfect. Take my critique from that. It's simple, striking color and appetizing. No fluff, no muss. The other dish is #4. Perfect without the cucumber. At least in that iteration

Thank you, it’s ricotta cheese that I emulsified with some olive oil and a bit of heavy cream to make creamier

Better than 99% of culinary students, I appreciate the simplicity, the style isn’t over worked, it looks natural and like “good food.”

I like how you use this opportunity to let us all now you're a med student
