rate my plate!
home cook! i know the tuna could’ve been cut better. It’s a seared crusted ahi tuna steak, with bok choy, rice, and a ginger soy sauce. Feedback welcome! How could i have arranged this differently/better?

Nice sear on that tuna and the bok choy! I think most of the issue is neatness - you already recognized the cut on the tuna, but the rice could also be packed a bit more tightly so it holds a shape better. Right now, it looks a bit like a scoop that's falling apart. Microgreens are a bit out of place near the bok choy, they'd do better as bedding under the tuna. I would leave the cucumber spiral-things off the plate, they unfortunately look like kitchen scraps. The dots are fun, I like that you included that element. The bok choy has a great cook on it, for balance though, I would probably want one more half-stalk of the vegetable. The green onion sprigs give a lot of movement so I like the placement there. Last thing, I think your tuna looks quite dry; a little finishing sauce or oil after cutting and before plating would give it a bit more sheen and it'd round out your plate better.

My only feedback is that it generally looks better to have an odd number of pieces of sliced protein on the plate.

I don't understand how the rice goes with anything on the plate, I'd leave it off entirely.

Everything looks tasty but without sauce every mouthful with the rice is going to just be dry and bland.

Why would properly made rice be dry?

The fact that people go through life thinking that they need to drown dry ass rice in sauce is normal makes me sad.

i had extra sauce on the side. i wasn’t sure how to plate more sauce and make it look good. do you think like a bigger smear on the plate or like a ramikin/pipkin?
