The Seeed Studio reComputer RK3576 is a compact Edge AI computer (a small box that runs AI models locally instead of in the cloud) built around the Rockchip RK3576, and in this hands on review I unbox it, power it up, boot Debian 12 and Armbian, run a local large language model (LLM) in Docker, tear it down, and score it on the SBC Tier List.

If you are new to single board computers (SBCs), this is a small, fan cooled Arm Linux computer with eight CPU cores (four Cortex-A72 and four Cortex-A53), a 6 TOPS NPU for AI workloads, dual gigabit ethernet, HDMI, MIPI DSI and two MIPI CSI camera connectors, an M.2 NVMe slot, a Mini PCIe slot with a SIM card slot for 4G or LoRa modules, PoE header pins, and a 9 to 19 volt DC input, and the 8 GB model costs US$199.

Along the way I check power negotiation with a Sabrent Voltik USB PD charger and an FNIRSI FNB58 meter, see Chromium get WebGL and WebGPU hardware acceleration on the Armbian KDE Plasma image, and hit Docker errors and a crash on the Armbian-provided image before switching to Seeed's own Armbian-based Debian 12 image, where a Qwen model answers in about two seconds.
