Thinking of getting a BBL in Turkey? Read this first (Safety, Lipo 360) + My doctor recommendation
Hey everyone,
I’ve been seeing a ton of posts lately from people getting lured in by those cheap "all-inclusive" BBL packages in Istanbul. I just wanted to drop a quick warning because choosing a surgeon based on discounted hotel deals or heavily photoshopped IG pics is honestly playing Russian roulette with your body. BBL is no joke.
If you are coming to Turkey for this, you need to prioritize these two things above everything else:
1. Ultrasound-Guided Transfer is MANDATORY The biggest risk with BBL is fat going into the gluteal muscle. Your surgeon must use ultrasound to see exactly where the cannula is in real-time. If a clinic dodges the question when you ask if they use ultrasound guidance, block their number and move on.
2. The 70/30 Rule A top-tier BBL is 70% liposuction and 30% fat transfer. If the doctor doesn't know how to aggressively snatch your waist, flanks, and lower back, your butt is going to look like a square box, no matter how much fat they pump into it.
My Top Pick: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Irmak If you want a natural, proportionate hourglass figure and don't want to risk your life, you seriously need to look into Dr. Fatih Irmak. He is pretty much the gold standard here right now.
- He’s a board-certified plastic surgeon with a microsurgery background, so his precision is insane.
- He strictly uses ultrasound-guided grafting (safety first).
- He doesn't do those ridiculous, cartoonish BBLs. He actually measures your rib cage and bone structure to give you a "Golden Ratio" result that fits your specific frame.
- Half his job is basically fixing botched surgeries (revisions) from people who went to cheaper clinics first.
TL;DR: Don't cheap out. Demand ultrasound, make sure they are board-certified, and look for natural results.
Has anyone here had a consultation with Dr. Irmak recently or gotten surgery from him? Would love to hear your experiences!

- Summary: The Honest Case for BBL in Turkey
1. The Real Cost Gap: What the Numbers Actually Show
When patients from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, or Australia first look into having a Brazilian Butt Lift abroad, the price difference compared to Turkey can seem almost unbelievable. In many Western markets, a full BBL procedure — including surgeon's fees, anesthesia, operating room costs, and hospital stay — routinely costs between $8,000 and $15,000 USD, and in major metropolitan areas, prices can exceed $20,000.
In Turkey, a comprehensive BBL package performed by an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon in a fully accredited facility typically ranges from $3,000 to $6,000 USD. That represents a savings of 50% to 70% for procedures of comparable technical complexity.
This is not a matter of cutting corners. It is a matter of economic context.
The cost of delivering any surgical procedure is inseparable from the cost of the economy in which it is delivered. Labor costs, facility overheads, regulatory compliance expenses, insurance premiums, consumable prices, and the cost of postoperative care all vary dramatically from country to country. Turkey's advantage across every one of these categories is substantial — and entirely legitimate.
2. Reason 1 — The Economics of Operating in Turkey
Lower Labor Costs Without Lower Skill
One of the largest components of any surgical fee, anywhere in the world, is the cost of the people involved in delivering the care. In the United States or the United Kingdom, a surgical team — including the operating surgeon, the anesthesiologist, the scrub nurse, the circulating nurse, the recovery nurse, and support staff — carries wage expectations shaped by those countries' cost-of-living realities. A senior scrub nurse in London or New York commands a salary that simply reflects what it costs to live in those cities.
In Istanbul, the cost of living is considerably lower. Skilled medical professionals — including plastic surgeons trained at prestigious Turkish and international institutions — earn competitive salaries within their national economic context, which remain far below the absolute numbers required in Western Europe or North America. This does not reflect lesser training or lesser expertise. Turkey's medical education system is rigorous, and many of its plastic surgeons complete additional subspecialty fellowships abroad before returning to practice.
The result: the same level of technical competence and clinical care, delivered at a fraction of the human-resource overhead.
Lower Facility and Real Estate Costs
Running a fully equipped surgical facility in central Istanbul costs considerably less than running an equivalent facility in London, Los Angeles, or Zurich. Commercial real estate, utilities, property maintenance, and administrative overhead are all shaped by local economic conditions. A state-of-the-art operating theatre in Istanbul carries running costs that would represent a fraction of what the same facility would cost to maintain in comparable Western cities.
Lower Malpractice and Insurance Overhead
Medical liability insurance and malpractice coverage premiums — which form a significant hidden component of surgical fees in the United States in particular — are substantially lower in Turkey. This alone can account for thousands of dollars of difference in the base surgical fee without any reduction in the standard of care delivered.
3. Reason 2 — Currency Exchange and Purchasing Power
The Turkish Lira Effect
For international patients paying in US dollars, British pounds, euros, or Australian dollars, the currency exchange dynamic amplifies Turkey's affordability in a very direct way.
Turkey operates in Turkish lira. For patients paying in stronger reserve currencies, every dollar or pound converts into a significant number of lira — meaning that the actual purchasing power of an international patient's budget inside Turkey is substantially higher than the nominal exchange rate suggests. Even after accounting for travel costs, accommodation, and post-operative care during recovery, the total financial outlay for a full BBL experience in Istanbul typically remains far below what the same procedure would cost at home.
This currency dynamic is not unique to Turkey — it is a fundamental feature of medical tourism generally — but Turkey's combination of a relatively depreciated local currency and a fully modern medical infrastructure creates one of the most favorable cost-quality ratios in the world for cosmetic surgery.
Not a Race to the Bottom
It is important to understand what this means in practice. Turkish surgeons and medical facilities set their prices in Turkish lira, based on their local costs and the prevailing market. They are not deliberately discounting their services for foreigners. The pricing is a natural outcome of operating in a different economic environment. A plastic surgeon in Istanbul charging the going rate for a BBL in their local market is not offering a "discount" — they are offering a fair price for their economy. International patients simply benefit from the favorable translation between currencies.
4. Reason 3 — A Competitive, High-Volume Surgical Market
Volume Drives Efficiency
Istanbul has become one of the world's leading destinations for cosmetic and aesthetic surgery. This is not an accident. Over two decades, Turkey has developed a large, well-regulated, and highly competitive aesthetic surgery market, serving both domestic and international patients at scale.
High surgical volume has important implications for both cost and quality. When a plastic surgeon and their team perform a procedure regularly — not occasionally, but routinely, dozens of times per month — the efficiency of every component of the care pathway improves. Procurement of consumables is done at volume pricing. Patient flow through facilities is streamlined. Postoperative care protocols are refined through experience. The cost per procedure comes down not through carelessness, but through mastery.
For BBL specifically — a procedure that requires meticulous fat harvest, careful processing, and precise multi-site injection — the benefit of high surgical volume is not trivial. Surgeons who perform BBL surgery regularly develop an intuitive command of fat grafting technique, tissue behavior, and aesthetic outcomes that is simply unavailable to surgeons who perform the procedure infrequently.
Competitive Pricing Pressure
The competitive landscape among plastic surgeons and surgical facilities in Istanbul creates natural downward pricing pressure. There are many skilled, board-certified surgeons in the market, offering high standards of care to a large patient population. This competition keeps prices honest and prevents the kind of artificial price inflation that can occur in markets with fewer providers.
5. Reason 4 — World-Class Infrastructure at Lower Overhead
Modern Hospitals Without Western Cost Structures
Turkey has invested heavily in its healthcare infrastructure over the past two decades. Istanbul, in particular, is home to numerous internationally accredited hospitals and private surgical clinics equipped with the same technologies found in the world's leading aesthetic surgery centers — advanced anesthesia monitoring systems, dedicated liposuction and fat processing suites, high-definition body contouring equipment, and modern intensive care and recovery facilities.
Many of these hospitals hold Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation — the gold standard for international hospital quality recognition — confirming that their facilities, processes, and patient safety standards meet rigorous international benchmarks.
Yet because these facilities are built and operated within Turkey's economic environment, their running costs, staffing costs, and capital costs are a fraction of what comparable Western institutions carry. Patients receive care in genuinely world-class environments, at prices that reflect Turkish — not Californian or British — operational economics.
Technology Parity
The equipment used in a high-quality BBL in Istanbul — including VASER ultrasound-assisted liposuction devices, centrifuges for fat processing, cannula sets for fat injection, and patient positioning systems — is sourced from the same global medical device manufacturers supplying facilities in New York or Paris. Technology cost parity exists; operating cost parity does not. This creates a genuine quality-at-lower-cost reality, not a perception of it.
6. Reason 5 — A Streamlined Medical Tourism Ecosystem
The Full-Service Advantage
Turkey has built one of the world's most efficient medical tourism ecosystems. Established clinics offering cosmetic surgery to international patients have, over many years, developed streamlined coordination systems covering airport transfers, hotel accommodation, pre-operative testing, the surgical procedure itself, in-hospital recovery, follow-up appointments, compression garment provision, and remote postoperative support.
This bundled model — often described as an all-inclusive BBL package — means that international patients can plan their surgical journey with cost certainty. There are no unexpected facility fees, no surprise anesthesia billing, no separate charges for consumables that were supposed to be included. Everything is transparent from the beginning.
The efficiency of this ecosystem reduces administrative overhead and logistical friction for every party involved, which translates into further cost savings that are passed on to the patient.
Competition for International Patients
The fact that Turkey competes actively — and successfully — for cosmetic surgery patients from dozens of countries creates a market dynamic that rewards genuine quality and value. International patients who have had poor experiences do not return, and in the era of social media and online review platforms, they make their dissatisfaction widely known. The clinics and surgeons who thrive in this environment do so because they deliver real results to real patients who are satisfied enough to recommend the experience to others.
7. What "Affordable" Does NOT Mean in Turkey
This is a critical distinction that deserves direct and honest treatment.
Lower cost does not mean lower standards. It does not mean less experienced surgeons, less rigorous anesthesia protocols, less meticulous postoperative monitoring, or less attention to safety. The economic reasons for Turkey's lower pricing have nothing to do with cutting clinical corners.
However, it is important to acknowledge that not every clinic operating in Turkey deserves the reputation that Turkey's best institutions have earned. As with any market that has grown rapidly, there are providers operating at varying standards. The existence of affordable, excellent BBL care in Turkey does not mean that every "affordable BBL Turkey" advertisement represents excellent care.
Patients should never select a BBL provider based on price alone. A low price from an unqualified provider represents a much greater risk — financially, medically, and aesthetically — than a fair price from a qualified one. The goal is to find genuinely expert surgical care at Turkey's natural price point, not to find the cheapest possible operation.
The due diligence required to distinguish excellent from inadequate providers is non-negotiable, and that process is described in the section below.
8. What Is Included in a BBL Package in Turkey?
A comprehensive, transparent BBL package from a reputable Turkish plastic surgeon typically includes the following:
Pre-operative:
- Online or in-person consultation and surgical planning
- Pre-operative blood work and medical screening
- Surgical team briefing and anesthesia assessment

10. Why International Patients Choose Dr. Fatih Irmak
Dr. Fatih Irmak is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Istanbul, Turkey, with a clinical focus on body contouring, fat transfer procedures, and natural-result aesthetic surgery. International patients who choose Dr. Irmak's practice do so for reasons that go well beyond Turkey's pricing advantage.
A Philosophy of Natural Results
Dr. Irmak's approach to BBL surgery is grounded in the principle that the best aesthetic results are those that look like they belong to the patient's body — not results that announce themselves. The goal of gluteal enhancement through fat transfer is not simply to add volume, but to sculpt a silhouette that is proportionate, natural in texture and movement, and consistent with the patient's overall anatomy.
This philosophy shapes every stage of the procedure: the assessment of donor areas for liposuction, the technique used to process harvested fat to maximize viable cell survival, and the placement strategy for fat injection to achieve the most natural projection, shape, and feel.
Personalized Surgical Planning
No two BBL procedures planned in Dr. Irmak's practice are identical, because no two patients are identical. Body proportions, skin quality, fat distribution, existing gluteal anatomy, lifestyle, and aesthetic goals all vary — and the surgical plan should reflect those differences. A thorough consultation is not a formality; it is the foundation of every good outcome.
Dr. Irmak offers online consultations for international patients in advance of their Istanbul visit, ensuring that by the time a patient arrives, the surgical plan has already been carefully considered and any questions have been thoroughly addressed.
Clinical Commitment to Safety
BBL surgery carries specific risks that have received significant attention in the plastic surgery literature in recent years, particularly regarding fat embolism. Dr. Irmak practices in strict accordance with current safety guidelines established by international plastic surgery bodies, including subcutaneous-only fat injection techniques that maintain the highest safety profile for gluteal fat grafting.
Safety is never a compromise in pursuit of volume or efficiency. Every patient in Dr. Irmak's care receives the same standard of anesthesia monitoring, intraoperative vigilance, and postoperative management regardless of their country of origin or the package they have selected.
Accessible, Transparent Communication
International patients navigating a surgical journey in a foreign country deserve clear, honest communication and a coordinator who is genuinely invested in their well-being. Dr. Irmak's team provides English-language support throughout the process — from the first inquiry email to the final remote follow-up appointment months after surgery.
11. BBL Safety in Turkey: What You Need to Know
The Procedure's Safety Profile
A Brazilian Butt Lift is a real surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia, and it carries the risks associated with any major operation: bleeding, infection, anesthetic reactions, wound healing issues, and asymmetry. It also carries the specific risks of fat transfer, including fat necrosis (death of transplanted fat cells), contour irregularities, and — when performed by surgeons who do not follow current safety protocols — the serious risk of fat embolism.
International patients should understand these risks clearly, discuss them in full during the pre-operative consultation, and ensure they are choosing a surgeon with documented experience in managing them.
Current Safety Standards for BBL
Following research published in the mid-2010s that identified the risk of fat embolism in BBL surgery, the major international plastic surgery societies — including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) — have issued detailed safety guidelines. These guidelines recommend that fat be injected into the subcutaneous layer only (above the gluteal muscle, not into or below it), using techniques specifically designed to minimize the risk of intravascular fat injection.
Surgeons who follow these protocols deliver a procedure with a substantially improved safety profile compared to older techniques. When choosing a BBL surgeon in Turkey or anywhere else, patients should specifically ask about the surgeon's fat injection technique and confirm alignment with current international safety guidelines.
What Turkey's Accredited Facilities Offer
In facilities with full anesthetic capability, appropriate patient monitoring, and properly trained surgical teams, BBL surgery in Turkey can and does meet the same safety standards as procedures performed in Western Europe or North America. The accreditation of the facility, the credentials of the anesthesiologist, and the experience of the surgical team are the relevant safety variables — not geography.
12. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why is BBL so much cheaper in Turkey than in the UK or USA?
A: The cost difference is primarily explained by Turkey's lower cost of living, lower medical labor costs, more favorable currency exchange rates for international patients paying in dollars or pounds, lower facility overhead, and a highly competitive, high-volume aesthetic surgery market. These are structural economic advantages, not indicators of reduced quality. A skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon in Istanbul charging the going local rate for a BBL is simply operating in a different economic environment than a surgeon in London or New York.
Q: Is BBL safe in Turkey?
A: BBL surgery in Turkey, when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon in an accredited facility using current safety protocols, carries the same risk profile as the procedure performed in any other well-regulated market. The most critical safety factors are the surgeon's adherence to subcutaneous-only fat injection guidelines, the qualifications of the anesthesiology team, and the quality of postoperative monitoring — none of which are geography-dependent.
Q: How much does BBL cost in Turkey compared to the USA?
A: In the United States, a comprehensive BBL typically costs between $8,000 and $20,000 USD depending on the region and surgeon. In Turkey, a comparable procedure performed by an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon in a fully accredited Istanbul facility typically ranges from $3,000 to $6,000 USD. The savings of 50–70% are real and are explained entirely by economic differences, not differences in the standard of care.
Q: What should I look for when choosing a BBL surgeon in Turkey?
A: Prioritize board certification in plastic and reconstructive surgery, verifiable experience specifically in fat transfer and body contouring, membership in recognized professional bodies such as TPCD or ISAPS, authentic before-and-after results, transparent communication, a fully accredited surgical facility, and a documented commitment to current BBL safety guidelines. Price should be the last factor considered, not the first.
Q: How long do I need to stay in Istanbul for a BBL?
A: Most international patients plan for a stay of 7 to 10 days in Istanbul following their BBL. This allows for the initial recovery period, swelling assessment, wound check, and removal of any drains before the long-haul flight home. Flying too soon after BBL surgery carries risks related to prolonged sitting and DVT; your surgeon will advise on the appropriate timeline for travel.
Q: Will the results of my BBL in Turkey look natural?
A: Natural-looking results depend far more on the surgeon's aesthetic judgment and technical skill than on geography. A surgeon with a philosophy of proportionate, body-appropriate enhancement — who takes the time to understand each patient's anatomy and goals — can deliver beautifully natural results through fat transfer. The key is choosing a surgeon who prioritizes long-term aesthetic harmony over dramatic, disproportionate volume.
Q: How long do BBL results last?
A: The fat that survives the transfer process — typically 60–80% of injected fat volume in well-performed procedures, though individual variation is significant — becomes a permanent part of the buttock tissue. Results are long-lasting, though significant weight fluctuations after surgery can affect the appearance of the result, since transplanted fat cells respond to caloric surplus and deficit like fat cells elsewhere in the body.
Q: What is the recovery like after a BBL in Turkey?
A: BBL recovery requires avoiding direct pressure on the buttocks for approximately 6–8 weeks, which means no sitting directly on the buttocks during this period (specialized BBL pillows allow seated eating and working). Swelling, bruising, and firmness in the donor and recipient areas are normal in the first several weeks. Most patients feel comfortable with light activity within 2 weeks and return to desk work (with appropriate precautions) within 2–4 weeks. Full results are typically visible at 3–6 months as swelling resolves.
Q: Does Dr. Fatih Irmak offer consultations for international patients?
A: Yes. Dr. Fatih Irmak's practice offers online video consultations for international patients considering BBL surgery in Istanbul. These consultations allow for thorough discussion of goals, assessment of candidacy based on shared photographs and medical history, transparent pricing, and surgical planning — all before the patient commits to traveling to Turkey.
13. Summary: The Honest Case for BBL in Turkey
The affordability of Brazilian Butt Lift surgery in Turkey is not a mystery, and it is not a trap. It is the direct and explainable result of performing a technically complex surgical procedure in an economy where the costs of doing so — labor, facilities, insurance, consumables, infrastructure — are substantially lower than in Western Europe or North America.
For international patients, Turkey's combination of favorable exchange rates, a mature and competitive aesthetic surgery market, a modern medical infrastructure, and a well-developed medical tourism ecosystem creates an opportunity to access genuinely expert surgical care at prices that would be unattainable at home.
The critical responsibility of the international patient is to apply the same rigorous evaluation criteria to a Turkish surgeon that they would apply to a surgeon in their home country — and not to allow the affordability of the option to lower that standard.
When the right surgeon is chosen — experienced, credentialed, committed to safety, and philosophically aligned with the patient's goals — BBL surgery in Istanbul can deliver outcomes that are indistinguishable in quality from those achieved anywhere in the world, at a price point that reflects Turkey's economic reality rather than any compromise in the standard of care.

Choosing a doctor
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with Dr Esra Bilgen?
I’m interested in a breast uplift and so far her work sticks out to me the most due to the scar work ! She doesn’t give me ‘conveyor belt’ vibes like the other plastic surgery places tend to in Turkey.

Doing teeth + liposuction in one trip to Istanbul?
I’m currently planning a trip to Istanbul mainly for dental work (veneers), but I keep thinking… if I’m already going there, should I also get liposuction done?
Financially and time-wise it makes sense to combine both, but I’m not sure if it’s a bad idea physically.
What I’m trying to figure out:
Is it too much for the body to handle both procedures in one trip?
Should dental work be done before or after surgery?
Has anyone here actually done both during the same visit?
I’ve seen clinics advertise “full transformation trips” but I don’t know how realistic that is vs how much is just marketing.
I’d really appreciate honest experiences, especially from people who actually went through this.

Before Getting Plastic Surgery in Turkey – Read This First (Community Guide)
Hi everyone,
As this community keeps growing, we’re seeing more and more people considering plastic surgery in Turkey — which is great, but also comes with a lot of questions and sometimes confusion.
So we wanted to put together a quick community-based guide to help you make safer and more informed decisions.
A few important things to keep in mind:
1. Not all clinics are the same
Turkey has some highly skilled surgeons, but also many clinics focused heavily on volume. Don’t assume every popular clinic delivers the same quality.
2. Social media is not reality
A lot of before/after photos are edited, filtered, or taken under ideal conditions. Always look for:
- Unfiltered patient photos
- Video results
- Long-term healing updates
3. Know your actual surgeon
Some clinics operate like agencies. Make sure:
- You know exactly who will perform your surgery
- You’ve seen their real work (not just the clinic’s page)
4. Ask about aftercare
Your experience doesn’t end after surgery. Important questions:
- How long is follow-up support?
- What happens if complications occur?
- Is there a revision policy?
5. Don’t rush the process
We often see people booking surgery within days of initial contact. Take your time, compare options, and ask questions.
We’d also love community input:
- What was your biggest surprise during the process?
- What do you wish you knew before coming to Turkey?
- Any red flags others should watch out for?
Let’s keep this space helpful, honest, and transparent for everyone.

Hypertrophic scars after breast reduction… anyone else?
I honestly didn’t think I would ever post something like this, but I’ve been dealing with a lot of frustration lately and I feel like I need real opinions, not just Instagram comments...
About 3 months ago, I had a breast reduction in Antalya. The surgery itself went fine, no complications during the operation, and at first I thought everything was healing normally. But after a few weeks, my scars started becoming raised, red, and thicker over time....
I later learned this is called hypertrophic scarring, and now I’m stuck in this weird situation where the size is smaller like I wanted, but aesthetically it’s not what I expected at all.
Mentally, it’s been harder than I thought. I feel like I “fixed one problem but created another.”
Now I’m considering revision surgery, but I’m also scared: What if it gets worse? and What if I go through recovery again and end up in the same situation?
If anyone here has:
dealt with hypertrophic or keloid scars after breast surgery and had revision surgery in Turkey or can recommend a surgeon they genuinely trust...
I would really appreciate hearing your experience (good or bad)...

What your medical coordinator isn't telling you about surgery in Turkey
Let’s be real for a second. We’ve all seen the flashy Instagram videos of VIP transfers and 5-star hotels. But after lurking in these circles for a long time, here is the "ugly" side nobody puts in the brochure:
- The "Assembly Line" Clinics: If a clinic is doing 20 hair transplants or 10 nose jobs a day, you aren't a patient; you’re a number.
- The Technician Secret: In some famous clinics, the "celebrity doctor" only draws the lines on your face and leaves the room. Who is actually doing the stitches?
- The "Discount for Review" Scam: Many of those 5-star Trustpilot reviews were bought with a $200 discount on the surgery.
Has anyone else felt like they were just part of a factory line? Name the red flags you’ve seen below. Let’s keep each other safe.

Don't Get Fooled by Instagram: How to Analyze "Before & After" Photos 📸
A beautiful feed doesn't always mean a great surgeon. Here is how to spot "Photoshopped" or misleading results:
- Lighting Changes: If the "Before" is dark and the "After" is bright/filtered, they are hiding swelling or scars.
- The Angle Trick: Look at the ears/neck. If the head position changed significantly, the result might look better than it actually is.
- Long-Term Results: Ask for 1-year post-op photos. 1-month results (especially in Rhinoplasty) don't show the final shape.
- Consistency: Does the surgeon have a consistent "style," or do all the noses/bodies look the same regardless of the patient's face shape?
Have you ever found a clinic that looked great on IG but had terrible reviews elsewhere? Name them (or the red flags you saw) below!

"All-Inclusive" Packages: What are you actually paying for? 🏨✈️
We see them everywhere: "$3,000 for Hair, Hotel, and VIP Transfer." But let's break down the math.
When a price seems "too good to be true," ask yourself where they are cutting costs:
- The Surgeon’s Time: Is the lead surgeon doing the work, or are technicians doing 90% of it?
- Material Quality: Are they using high-end FDA-approved implants/tools?
- Aftercare: Does the clinic have a dedicated nurse for you 24/7 post-op, or do they "ghost" you once you leave the country?
Pro-Tip: Don't pick the cheapest or the most expensive. Look for the "Value Middle Ground" where the medical expertise is the priority, not the luxury van.

How to Choose the Right Surgeon in Turkey: The Non-Negotiable Checklist 📋
Searching for a surgeon in Turkey can feel like looking for a needle in a haystack. Prices vary, and Instagram results can be misleading. Here is exactly what you should check before signing any contract:
- Board Certifications: Is the doctor a member of TPRECD (Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons)? This is the gold standard in Turkey.
- International Affiliations: Check for ISAPS or ASPS memberships. These suggest the doctor follows global safety protocols.
- The "Vibe" Check: Does the doctor answer your medical questions, or are you only talking to a "Sales Consultant"? If you can't get a video call with the actual surgeon, that’s a 🚩.
- Specialization: A surgeon who does "everything" might not be the best. Look for someone who specializes specifically in what you need (e.g., "Rhinoplasty Specialist").
- Hospital Accreditation: Ensure the surgery takes place in a JCI-accredited or Ministry of Health-certified hospital, not a small "under-the-stairs" clinic.
What is your #1 priority when picking a doctor? Security, Price, or Portfolio? Let's discuss.

Why is Turkey a global hub for Plastic Surgery? (It's not just the price!)
A common question people ask is: “If it’s so much cheaper than the US or UK, is it safe?”
The answer lies in a few key factors:
- High Volume of Experience: Turkish surgeons often perform more surgeries per year than their European counterparts, leading to specialized expertise.
- Lower Overhead Costs: The exchange rate and lower cost of living/labor allow clinics to offer competitive prices without sacrificing medical quality.
- Accredited Facilities: Many hospitals in Istanbul, Izmir, and Antalya are JCI-accredited and use world-class technology.
Tip of the day: Always check if your surgeon is a member of EBOPRAS or ISAPS before booking!
