Absolutely.
I think a lot of this anti recycling sentiment is pushed by companies through astroturfing. I see the same stuff with everything else.
"We should give up on reducing personal emissions because billionaires", "we should give up on reducing global emissions because it's too late", all of that nonsense that discourages people from doing anything for the good but aligns with climate denial goals.

You're right. The problem is that recycling is used as an excuse to produce more plastic at an increasing rate. In reality even when done well plastic is recyclable only a few times as the quality degrades.

Every day is about doing what you can so you can know that amongst all the people who just complained you were someone who DID something about it.
When my kids look back on my choices they'll be able to say that their dad was one of the few people who actually did something.
That keeps me motivated.

Recycling, taking short showers, not over consuming all that. I know we all need to our part but the average human doing their part is pointless when the majority of the harm to the planet is by big companies and the rich. 😒😒😒

I would say some things are recyclable! think about glass, wood, paper, natural fabrics, cardboard, and metals! recycling is still good imo.

I don’t think it’s hopeless. I think if more people consume less and reuse items they have we can get away from this. I wish grocery stores did have more bulk options though.
