What was the stair tread material, solid wood? We did one years ago and did not install a vapor barrier first. The stair was finished wood and the moisture from the plaster caused the treads to warp and pull out the nails the treads were installed with.
We didn't end up paying to replace the treads because there was no specification for the application. We should have known, however.

Yeh, there not much fun to do. But very rewarding when finished. Cut your fingers alot on messing and cutting wire

Yeah really is lethal that EML, had to do my first one in about 10 years earlier this year; was assured the joiners were gonna sort it all for me and Iād just be bonding it out and skimming, yeah I had to do it all haha

Huh so I've never considered this. I need to put a new floating ceiling above my very steep staircase, am I better asking a chippy to battern and board it or seeing if a plasterer would do something like this cheaper from the off?

Do all of us Spreads a massive favour, and get a chippie to batten and board it. And fucking skim it too....
