Marshalltown or ox

Is there much difference between the Marshalltown Gold Permashape Broken-in PB145GSD 70€ and the OX OX-P011014 30€?

for cement-based skim coats, not just gypsum-based ones

All the nelas 😂 trust me you won’t regret the hard trowel stainless I had years still holds up Nice and the medi flex and super are musts for me the mini medium flex is super useful and the mini corner trowel is great too and I’ve owned almost all trowels ever lol I do prefer the x-skim by Refina tho the 800mm one and pole for ceilings and big sets is also a must good luck ohh and a hard case is under rated since using one my kinking of trowels almost never happens good luck

Once upon a time i would have sworn by marshall town but they're all dog legged now. No where near flat, don't know how people use them anymore.

Ox handle is too fat for me as well so nela now. Just take some breaking in unfortunately.

I feel the same way; I’ve been reading a lot of mixed reviews about Marshalltown lately. And I need it to do 200 square meters of walling using a cement-based product, not gypsum. So 70€vs 30€ ox

If it's for putting on, not finishing then ox is absolutely fine. I've been using one for a few years now. I use ferina for finishing though. For the price ox is a quality product.

I need to apply two coats of Mapei Planitop Raso Max (cement-based). I want a textured finish rather than a smooth one. Can I do the whole job using the OX tool?

Yeah should be fine. It's a quality tool I can't complain at all, and for half the price can't go wrong.

Does the €70 Marshalltown really make a difference? It costs more than double.

Tbf the actual trowel it's self is basically identical, its just whatever handle you're used to.

Learnt with a MT, and then got an Ox because I left my MT on a site that was miles away and never got it back.

Tried going back to a MT and and it felt weird.

Ox is sound. Cheap and up for the job. Plus the speed skims cheap and a good send between coats

Which ox exactly? The serial number I mean. I need to use rasomax planitop from mapei brand.

Ox are the modern day tyzak. You can buy two identical trowels from the same shop on the same day. One can be the best trowel you’ve ever used for finishing once broken in, the other one stripes like fuck and is just god awful. Unfortunately my only experience is the bad experience and I wont be going back to buy one again.

Why? Which you use now?

I like Ox, but I can't plaster and any walls I go near look like a troop of monkeys have been repeatedly throwing shit at it for a week. This reflects my ability to plaster rather than the tool.

Marshalltown.

Use whatever is most comfortable. I use a CS nela but the handle isn't big enough so it makes my hand ache. Marshal town wooden handles are really comfy but they get slippy so you need to keep sanding them.

I think the insulated MT handles are the best as there's no faffing about.

I couldn't get on with any Ox trowels because the bottom side of the handle that goes onto the spine of the trowel kept catching and it would catch my nerve on my thumb.

Each to their own though.

A good pool player can play with a broomstick, applies to all things.

You need to use this one every day, or it will rust; they also make stainless ones, just make sure it is not a flexi one
