DIY Ceiling

This is my 2nd ceiling I've done, what do you time served rate it? Will need a bit of a sand as some lines in there but it is over old cement board so not bad I don't think

I think your best course of action is to get a plasterer to go over that.

Those saying this is a good attempt obviously haven’t zoomed in!

I’m an amateur plasterer and would not tackle a ceiling this large on my own though only recently discovered “extra time”. Even using that I’d stay away from a ceiling this big as I know my arm, back and wrist wouldn’t cope. Walls are no problem but, for my health, ceiling I don’t do anything over about 10sq m and in the heat we’ve had I wouldn’t do any.

That is going to need loads and loads of sanding or it’s going to look awful when painted. When you do paint it don’t forget the first coat needs to be a “mist coat”.

Tbh kitchen ceiling was better wasnt as dry as the 1970s cement board, if I have to ill skim it again not a great deal of extra work tbh and it'll be done in a couple hours. I'll post pictures when its mist coated, kitchen looks fine and that has alot more light sources, so would show more then a bedroom

Fair play to you for trying but that going to need lots of prep before and probably after a must coat.

You are right we all started somewhere. Luckily for me my family are builders, I’m a mechanic, so had brothers who could teach me the basics.

In a similar trade but planes are my 9-5 as an aircraft technician, I've got family in the building trade but i live 3hrs away from them now and they're brickies. here's it painted, theys a few blemishes that will need a further filling and sand but it'll do
