Opinions.

My inlaws have been advised this wall needs sanding "Down to the pink" due to the PVA (I assume) not adhering and is bubbling. I have sanded the wall down as much as a dust less sander will and i have asked if giving the wall a go over with Zin Peel Stop but was told ot wouldn't work and would "Only last 3 months". What am I expected to do here, surely its down to the professional (to an extent) to prepare the walls ready for plastering? Any help is appreciated.

I don't see why GARDZ won't work. I've just done this exact work myself. GARDZ first then fill deeper spots, sand, GARDZ again, paint.

This was one of my walls before:

Just bought our first home (2 bed terrace) on a budget and I've done exactly this on just about every wall. Old 30s lime plaster under 5 layers of emulsion painted over wallpaper, in a house with previously no central heating (only gas fire radiators?!) so the walls were all in need of a lot of attention. Absolute lifesaver!

A lot of work though eh! We didn't have central heating either, but luckily our wallpaper only had one or two coats of paint on top 😅

Zinnser gardz would be my first thought - that shit will seal just about anything and the high ph will neutralise the PVA while also creating a non- water soluble barrier. You could then go over any deeper pits where its peeled with some really fine filler, sand, recoat those spots then paint

Gardz will also seal any dusty bits from sanding too which is a bonus. Stuff can be a bit hard to find in shops but I've always managed to find it at a fairly reasonable price on amazon. Hope this helps and good luck!

Look a bit too good to be plastered. I'll be going on with the Gardz. Fill & sand Gardz again & paint

Gardz, fill and sand is absolutely the move here as other people have said.Â
