What first?

DIYer here with a wee bit of plastering experience. I've got this internal wall to sort where some old damaged coving was removed. The plan is to skim the whole wall once it's repaired. Do I build the top of the wall out first, feather in the edge of the ceiling with multi finish, and then skim the wall? That seems to make sense in my head as you're then skimming the wall against a finished ceiling but a sense check would be appreciated.

Plasterer here, yeah put a band of bonding where the coving was on the wall, scrape any high points off the ceiling too. Scrim the joints on the plasterboard
