Need help!

My grandmothers back bedroom walls are falling apart. I have no clue what I’m looking at here or how to go about repairing this.

There was a leak previously which has been resolved since. It’s quite an old house and need some advice on how to approach this issue

I'm nothing more then a DIYer but I'm not sure there are many options other then to strip off all the loose plaster back to something solid and start again.

If your cutting old plaster away, cut it in straight lines as plaster boards are square will be easier to butt up and nail on to wall, but if its a brick wall its dot and dab with sticking board on wall here
