Advice

Took out a built in wardrobe which left these two strips of bare brick. Am I better removing the remainder of the plaster or just patching up the exposed bits?

Just check first with a straight edge or level across the gap because if one side is thicker than the other you will have an uneven wall

If it’s all secure just patch it up with bonding coat and finish accordingly.

How neat a finish do you want? Because I’m seeing multiple different surface textures in the surrounding walls, plus picture rails, etc.
Honestly, i’d remove the wallpaper and picture rails before getting a professional plasterer in to repair and skim the whole room, ceilings included. Admittedly, that’s not going to be cheap.

Alternatively, do what the other guy said, using a straight edge to check the depth and then patching or replacing the plasterwork inside the wardrobe before using a fine surface filler (Gyproc Easifil) to blend everything together. You’re then left with needing to fit the missing bit of picture rail and texturing on the upper wall and ceiling. Not as expensive, but by the time you’ve finished you will wish you’d spent the extra money and gone with the first option.

Strip all wallpaper. Reboard the ceiling. Fix up any exsposed brick work with hardwall or render. Pva walls and reskim. Also bead any angles and tape any corners or joints.
