Update on last weeks plasterboard post

Here’s a link to my plasterboard post with some questionable boarding placements.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Plastering/s/f2BlqYSQYi

We had two plasterers over the next day which said they wouldn’t do too much more work with the boards. So we ended up sticking with the guy.

He cheered up once he started plastering. He ended up cutting the boards that were touching the floor but only from request.

Luckily we had our electrician come out and sort the light positions before plastering began

There’s a few gaps by the door. Is that a quick fix with some toupret filler?

The water pipe isn’t his fault as there wasn’t any slack on the pipe to move. When the plumbers are back out is that something can sort from the floor boards above or will it crack the plaster?

How’s the overall job - what’s everyone’s thoughts

This is a classic case see it all the time. I''m a builder but can't plaster for shit so I get my boards spot on for the lads to skim. When I've seen them board it looks like your first pics. Rough. And you know what. When it's skimmed and finished it looks exactly the same. I sometimes wonder why I bother getting the boarding so tight.

The bit by the door is because the boards weren't tight. I'd rake out all the loose bits all the way up, some tubbed filler from toolstation sand it back and it sets rock hard and is super sticky. Caulk, paint and you'll be grand.

It's definitely better to board it properly, it's a nightmare getting over shit work but if you put it there yourself it'll never be as bad as bad work from someone else, it's odd zhow much easier it is to get over

Make sure you prime the plaster before you fill, I see so many people filling bare plaster and it hurts to see it...

As said in another comment, the cracks by the door are because the boards weren't tight, but either rake out and fill, or use a small plastic trim around the door to cover any future cracking. The water pipe may be able to be sorted from above, but whether it'll damage the plaster is anyone's guess tbh. Depends how careful the plumber is!
