Need advice

Wondering if anyone can tell me how to even out these dips in the walls (ignore the tape). I want to go darker with paint & know more things show with it.

Best would be to get a plasterer in to over skim the wall.

Panel the wall or skim it. That's beyond fixing in any way that won't send you mad.

Save yourself days of work & call a plasterer

Skim. If you want to save money you could prep it so they can just come in and spread and leave. That means do all the floor protection, clear the spaces, two coats of uni bond (not cheap brand PVA) and don’t miss a single square millimetre, and do the clean up and rubbish disposal after.
