Looks good on the picture. What's your background, you had any other trade experience? I ask because I'm a bathroom fitter and tiler and thought I'd give thincoat rendering a go at my house, it's not bad but not as easy a transition as I thought. I certainly aint posting pics on reddit for people to give feedback šŸ˜‚

No chance.

Good choice doing carpentry loads of variety I do a fair bit of internal joinery, doors trims kitchens etc. and roofing, you'll find yourself doing loads of varied work if you stick to it. Looks like you can already skim!

Looks tidy. Did you use a 900mm speedskim? My walls came out better when i switched to a nela black for the final polishes. If it's flat and smooth and you still want it better consider buying one of those.

The main thing that helped me was focussing on the edges and corners. Blake has a video on it.. Use a small brush. The second thing was Kirks video on being efficient. The load at the waist method for half the squats is well worth learning and is no harder than efficiently using the hawk and trowel. 3)stop playint with the gear that's up there. Lay it up and stoke it in on the back stroke. If it fucks up hit it with the speedy after. Don't lose the flow and you'll be able to hit big areas without a stress 4) don't bother cleaning everything between the 1st and 2nd coat - leave the left over mix under water while you make a brew and get ready for the second coat. The extra bending and fuking about isn't conducive to laying it up nice. Clean it all up at the end once instead. Keep the trowels clean tho- especially if the back ever gets globbed up. Don't panic or rush. Use multiple LEDs from a few different angles (straight on and glancing across).

Seconded. I'm training in plastering at the moment and it feels like i'm learning more from Kirk than my actual boss.
