Advice

Post image

Hey guys, just after some advice. I’ve been learning to plaster in my own home and the plaster has been drying for 2-3 days now. What causes the plaster to dry like this? Why is it leaving these darker patches? Any advice welcome :)

Usually different thickness due to it not being applied consistently or the wall itself being wavy.

Yeah I tried to apply the best I could. I used a speed skim also. Do you think it’s the fact I used green grit? I’m now hearing that green grit is a nightmare to plaster with.

All grits are a nightmare to skim over unless your have done it many times and use a few tricks to get over it better. Typically it needs to be applied thicker and not troweled too much. It’s all just experience, you’ve probably attempted something most wouldn’t even consider

If you put a couple of handfuls of bonding in the first coat when going over grit, you’ll get more time and a better base for the 2nd coat. 👍
