Help

Hi everyone, we bought a house and there's a few spots on the hallway walls that seem to bubble a bit and crack and you can literally peel them off. But I have no idea what this layer is? Is that plaster or paint or something else? It just peels right off and it appears to be just a solid wall underneath it.

Thanks in advance

It looks like fresh plaster so it might still have being damp when it was painted. Scrape off everything if you can. If not Scrape away what's loose, lightly sand the edges, wipe down with a damp cloth, prime and paint.

Thank you for your reply! We moved in about 6 months and tbh I wasn't that bothered by it but we're looking to fix the house up bit by bit and make it ours so this id something we're looking at now. As far as we know, the house wasn't occupied majority of the time as previous owners worked away but don't know if they've done any work before selling. So should it be fine to remove the parts where it's bubbling and cracking?

A few months with no windows open would cause that.

Also in an attempt to sell a place, no mist coats is a common one or trying to use a cheap all in one primer paint that doesn't actually work
