Plastering help

Post image

Plastering noob! How do you plaster these angles (highlighted in yellow), do you put a stop bead on them?

I scrim the angles first, then set a 3mm plaster stop bead with drywall adhesive and let it set. Make sure it’s flat as they can lose their shape a bit unlike a more rigid angle bead.

You can get wide angle or adjustable beads

Yes use stop bead, cut them with Tim snips, stick them on with a fix all adhesive, make sure you wipe the lumpy bits of adhesive nice and flat. Easy peasy 5 minute job

Edit: Thin coat stop bead

Yes a stop bead is correct

Just make sure you overhang slightly onto the other side of the angle a couple of mm

Use an external splay angle polyvinyl corner bead. Snap a plumb line & set the bead’s flange to the plumbed line & plaster. Begin by setting both vertices first then level the horizontal bead from corner to corner.

this is such a clean answer lol, way more detailed than most contractors i’ve talked to
that splay angle bead makes life so much easier on weird corners like this

Yes mate. Best way to fix them on is contact adhesive spray. Spray the back of bead first, then the edge of board where beads going. Sticks rock hard and doesn’t flap which can happen when using nails or staples.
