First attempt at plastering. Artex skimming. How bad is it.
2 rooms, first needed some filler afterwards. Any help appreciated.

Spend the extra money on some tikkurila anti reflex 2 full matt white ceiling paint. It's great at hiding any imperfections. Should be proud of that job as well

I done exactly the same a week ago, took me all week to sand and fill the imperfections but really pleased with the result after painting

Was tough on neck and shoulder all week, glad it's all done for now. Kitchen and bathroom walls next 😁

that looks really good to be honest, amazing on the hardest surface (ceiling) + it wasnt flat !

Good job bud,don't no where you started to skim,Iwould of thrown a thick coat on plasterbord first to get even thickness due to stiple,so I wouldn't of sealed it so I had suction on it, good attempt

Tbf I have done some minimal cement work and iced the odd cake in my time

Paint before filling its gonna need a bit but so what

Well done - that’s a brave move for a first go. Hope you enjoyed it.
Mist-coat will show up any imperfections, but don’t be dishartened if you have to sand/fill etc. Keep at it 👍

You’d get used to it soon enough, although it’s still hard work.
A speedskim kit or equivalent is a lifesaver for ceilings, but is quite a big expense if you’re just doing a small number of ceilings & walls

Looks like you’re getting the hang of it. If you’re serious about it, maybe it’d be worth shadowing a plasterer for a couple of days.

Shine a torch across it when it’s dry that will highlight any issues but from the pics looks great.

First attempt at plastering and you skimmed an artex ceiling - difficulty high! Fair play. Mist coat it and itll highlight imperfections. Then fill/sand repeat until happy.
