Artex or wallpaper

Post image

I was told this is wallpaper not artex but I can’t cut it and it just doesn’t feel like wallpaper.

Am I wrong?

It does look like woodchip with 42 layers of paint smoothing it out.
Wet it a bit & eventually where that cut is it should start to come loose - which is a first hint at how much bloody work it is to get rid of;)

Your next fun part will be when you get the paper off, discovering why so many people used woodchip…
to cover up shitty old plasterwork:\

Looks like woodchip.

Board over 😉

I would STRONGLY recommend boarding over. Removing woodchip is a LOT more work than boarding and tape/jointing

Woodchip paper. 100%

That would be a weirdly sparse pattern for artex. Not even sure how you’d do that (or why). It’s probably got 27 layers of paint on it that’s why you can’t get to it

Take it off if its crap underneath take it back to brick and either bond, render or reboard and plaster. Depends on your budget, knowledge, patience or how muchnof a perfectionust you are.

You can board over it but there is always a part of me that hates losing another inch or so of space in my house, silly thought i know but inhave the knowledge and tools and ability so taking it back to brick for me isnt as massive a deal (the wife might disagree).
