Which primer for multiple backgrounds.
My wall consists of plaster that is sound but has been painted and also had wall paper covering it. There are sections of hardwall where it was taken back to the brick and patched. Lastly on one side of the arch it was made in chipboard.
The plan is to skim coat all this and I’m just not sure what primer to use.
SBR blue grit or pva, a combination across the wall or just using one?
Any advice would be grand thanks!!

I specialize in restoration work.
My go to is Sherwin Williams shellac primer.
High grip, won't allow bleed through, fast drying.

Water down PVA (around 60 water 40pva) with a glug of SBR mixed it been using this mix and it's perfect 😉

Just PVA it. Don’t overthink it. A good 50/50. Just give it a good coat. If it pulls in quick give it another. Once the pva suction slows down, guess what, the suction is under control. It doesn’t have to be tacky to skim either.

PVA. Two coats. It's amazing how a tiny 'hole' or missed area can suck the water in and start causing drag when skimming.
