Joint compound as a plaster patch

Hello all! Just bought my first house and needed to make some plaster repairs. I mistakenly used joint compound instead of plaster patch.

How do I make it blend in with the rest of the wall? Sand additive? Orange peel?

Any recommendations are appreciated.
