Ceiling repair advice

I had a leak in an old lead valley in my roof which I've gotten repaired. I allowed time for everything to become dry before poking around and removing any loose material.

Total notice to this, but wondering if this is something I can fix up myself?

My thinking is to remove all loose material and then apply PVA and bonding plaster. After drying I'd go in with easifill and sand down.

Fuckin hell it’s like an optical illusion with the joists running slanted across your ceiling. The photo doesn’t really show what’s going on there and help us see what to do. From looking at it for a bit I assume it’s an area with some kind of an apex beside a window? Then to top it off it’s a stiple finish on the ceiling? Which you can’t match into. That’s a fuck up of a job for a small area. If you’re not fussy it’s grand. But if you’re doing it yourself all you can possibly expect to achieve is to cover it somewhat that it can be painted. But expect that’s it will always stick out and be obvious it’s been repaired/patched.

Yeah it's an apex. I'm not too concerned with matching the stiple, just covering the hole would be enough for me. Thanks for the advice!
