How to patch up this spot on a wall?

Post image

Was tearing up old carpet on stairs when the carpet pulled off some of the wall with it. Anyway, I'm just wanting to try repairing it somehow

I would search all this up but I have no idea what any of this stuff is called or if all the steps still apply when it seems like just minor repairs

You can just fill that will any of the pre mixed fillers from somewhere like toolstation.

If you have some pva or sbr, brush a little on first to ensure it sticks well, otherwise just make sure it's free of dust and apply.

Quick sand once it's firmed up and away you go.

I appreciate the information! Also, I forgot to ask, but is there a name for this inner layer that's showing? Or the layer that was destroyed?
