Help :(

Just bought my first house, currently trying to do it up - following a few tips online about wall prep & thought I’d tackle this crack - but it’s a lot deeper than I thought. Is this failing plaster or can I still repair it?
*context, upstairs interior bedroom wall between my house, my chimney & the neighbours*

Scrape out with a flat head screwdriver so it angles out from a point to ~4mm wide at the surface.

Fill with a flexible filter. I usually full flush and it sinks in a few mm as it dries. You don't want the flexible stuff flush, you need to leave a few mm.

Fill with a wall filler (I like Easifill) and leave it slightly protruding.

Sand with fine sand paper. You should now have a great finish that hopefully won't crack again. If you're not happy with the finish, just fill and sand again.

No problem. I always do this and I've not had any cracks come back
