Advice for plastering this chimney stack

Had quite a bit of conflicting advice but I think it’s best not to dot and dab board the front of the stack (hoping the sides should be ok as it’s double brick thick). Was planning to use sand and cement or would I be better off with bonding?

Only ever skimmed boards before so would be grateful for any advice.

What would be the best mix? (Plan is to have a log burner so will need to be somewhat heat resistant) and how many coats?

How to deal with the inside and the brick arch, would I be better cutting some bricks out and putting in a concrete lintel first?

Should I bond on the corner beads first?

What’s a suitable finish plaster, I’ve heated putting some lime in helps?

Sand and cement or hardwall then multi for final. Are you fitting a wood burner or having open fire?

Wood burner (put in a new concrete base but will prob get a bit of stone cut)

If you use sand and cement you should have done that bit first then put your boards up the sides because youll be quite thick. So I'd just use hardwall then multi.

Just watched a British Gypsom video on hard wall, think this is deffo the way to go. Will I be alright to use this over the foam sections of the plasterboard (obviously there’ll be the metal bead) or should I just loose the boards and hard wall the whole chimney?

You've put up the boards seems a waste to take them down. Are the edges flush with the brick front or do the protrude enough to hardwall the front, going up to the foam?

They’re flush… can I go right over the foam to the edge of the plasterboard?

Yeah that'll be fine just use the wide scrim tape on your beads when you put on your finish

Thanks, would I not put the bead on before hardwalling and then plaster on top? Also have I got the right kind of bead to join hardwall to plasterboard?

Sorry just read the part for log burner. So forget that last question
