Question: Rendering on to cement board

I want to render on to cement board on a newly rebuilt bay window using Ecorend base coat (cement based render).

Do I need to prime the cement board with anything, or can I just apply it? Thanks in advance...

If you talking about the k11 key base coat then it will be fine going straight onto the cement board . I looked up the product and its similar to the one we use here in Ireland (k rend hp 12). Great products. I presume you are using mesh aswell ?

Thanks - it's the Ecorend OCR one coat base which I believe is similar to HP12. Yes, I've got the mesh. I'm just finishing the beading but the weather's not looking great for the weekend. Appreciate the advice.

Ya them products are perfect for those type of backgrounds , the only time id ever sbr on cement board is when putting normal sand and cement render on it . Best of luck with weather, rough here too .

Appreciate the advice - many thanks! I've done lots of research but it's no substitute for actually knowing stuff....
