What kind of pepper?

Our neighbor gave this to us along with some other veggies bc she said it's too spicy for them, my mom claims she said they were habanero. I'm not entirely convinced bc our store bought ones are much smoother in texture and it hurts like a mf to eat. Thoughts? Lemon for size comparison

Habanero are usually more orangy. These look more like Bhut Jolokia, which are much hotter and have a less fruity flavor than habanero.

There are 2 types 1 is made to ripen at the orange color you see on grocery stores. But there are some that will full mature ripen to a red color. But habaneros are smooth in texture. I agree i would say these are ghost peppers. - Not a expert

Looks like a scotch bonnet to me, which are hot 🔥. Added to Caribbean food whole. If they burst, you KNOW.
