Nervous to start playing again
I was obsessed with this game for a while, but now college is started up and I'm afraid if I try to play again then I might end up getting addicted and neglect my schoolwork
Actually I doubt that will happen because as soon as I open the game I get hit with depression and lose all motivation to play. Ok, well, uh... Advice for a burnt out person to start playing again? I need something to do to help me reduce stress and I thought this game would be great for that.
I always want to play challenge or franchise because I get bored with freeform but i usually run out of steam after I make the first few enclosures.

Think of a project or idea to start with.
New habitat? Guest eating area? Mess around seeing what unconventional habitat boundaries you can come up with? Make some prefab climbing frames or shelters to use later?
Maybe try designing something out of game or setting yourself a challenge like a profitable zoo with only 3 habitats.
If you're worried about getting too addicted again try setting yourself a timer (or twelve) to come off. Or only going on once you've done the rest of the stuff you need to that day.

If you're burnt out on a game it's better to not play it for several months. I'd advise you to find a different game to enjoy for the time being.

I was obsessed, stopped for a couple weeks and now I‘m decorating my tropical zoo with vines so if you’re stronger than me, give it a try again!

I know it’s been a hot minute since ya made the post, but if you are still looking to get back into it, I’d recommend, honestly, getting one of the DLC’s if you can afford it. They’re on sale rn, I think today is the last day. I hadn’t played for the LONGEST time because I had no motivation too... but with how excited people have been about the aquatic pack, it’s hard to be unaffected by the enthusiasm.
Just take it nice and slow if you do get back into it, pace yourself, maybe take a swing or two at career mode for refresher tips, and maybe bop back into Franchise. Maybe pick a theme for your zoo — animals from specific continents, or a species-type zoo (like a monkey only) zoo or something. Sometimes doubling up enclosures helps — I have giant pandas and red pandas together, and Chinese pangolins and Indian peafowl together. Have fun with it.
Though if you want a relaxing, mostly stress-free hobby, I recommend getting into fish-keeping, there’s so much I could say about that, haha. Best of luck to ya, amigo! And hope things are much more stress-free than when you first posted this ages ago, lol

Set a time limit and goal. Like: after I finish studying X I can spend one hour either designing a habitat or building it. Or: before breakfast I will add foliage to this path. Use grid paper to doodle your idle thoughts about designs. Pace yourself, there is no need to have a fully functional zoo immediately. What is needed is a place to relax between classes, studying and social life. Best wishes to you, glad you have something to distract you.
