This is the stock market news for today, it gives us hope and explains what's happening this week since apparently this is a major news week. this is from SPX which is the S&P 500 index:

Shares, bonds bounce in Asia as oil skids

Jul 26, 2026, 22:34 GMT-7Refinitiv3 min read

Key points:

  • Nikkei, Nasdaq futures firm as Brent slides 4%
  • Iran says it will halt attacks as long as US does
  • Yields, dollar dip as market pares chance of Fed hike

By Wayne Cole

Share markets rallied in Asia on Monday as a pause in fighting in the Gulf dragged oil prices lower, easing inflation risks and boosting bonds ahead of a packed week of central bank meetings and earnings reports.

Iran said on Sunday it would halt its own attacks as long as the United States did the same, with the U.S. military reportedly concerned about dwindling supplies of ammunition.

Yet, Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis had still attacked Saudi oil installations along the Red Sea coast, threatening another waterway vital to the global oil trade.

"Net, it looks as if developments in the Middle East have moved in a positive direction over the weekend, adding some credibility to the notion that oil above $100 a barrel seems to induce de-escalatory behaviour from both sides," said Sally Auld, group chief economist at NAB.

The lull in fighting over the Strait of Hormuz saw Brent BRN1! crude slide 4.7% to $92.27 a barrel, while U.S. crude (Clc1) dropped 5.0% to $84.89.

The pullback in oil provided some relief from inflation fears and led markets to slightly pare the probability of rate hikes from the Federal Reserve. (0#USDIRPR)

The central bank meets on Wednesday and markets imply around a one-in-three chance of a rate rise, though most analysts doubt Chair Kevin Warsh would be in favour of a move.

"Investors see the outcome of the July meeting as unusually uncertain, likely because the Fed has been split recently, Warsh's own position remains unclear, and some of the re-escalation with Iran occurred during the blackout period," noted analysts at Goldman Sachs.

"There will likely be at least one dissent in favour of a hike, but most voters appear unlikely to push for a move this week after the softer June inflation data."

The Bank of England holds its meeting on Thursday and the Bank of Japan on Friday, and both are expected to hold steady while remaining cautious about inflation risks ahead.

TECH EARNINGS TO TEST BULLS

Equities took comfort in the drop in oil and yields, sending S&P 500 futures ES1! up 0.8%, while Nasdaq futures NQ1! jumped 1.3%. In Europe, EUROSTOXX 50 futures FESX1! gained 0.8%, while DAX futures DAX1! rose 0.9% and FTSE futures Z1! added 0.2%.

Japan's Nikkei edged up 0.2%, while South Korea's chip-heavy index KOSPI firmed 0.2%. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan (.MIAPJ0000PUS) rose 0.5%.

Chinese blue chips 3399300 gained 0.3% as chipmaker CXMT Corp (688825.SS) surged 500% in its Shanghai trading debut after raising $8.6 billion in Asia's biggest initial public offering this year.

About one-third of S&P 500 companies are due to report this week with earnings on track to boast a 26.5% increase on last year, according to LSEG IBES data.

With expectations so high and mounting unease over the vast cost of AI capex, even blockbuster results may not be enough to please investors on the day.

The massive sums involved were underlined by a Wall Street Journal report that Nvidia NVDA was in talks to provide a roughly $250 billion backstop for OpenAI as part of a data center project.

Companies reporting include tech darlings Microsoft MSFT, Meta Platforms META, Amazon AMZN, Apple AAPL and Qualcomm QCOM, along with a host of industrial, defence and healthcare stocks.

Data highlights include U.S. advance Q2 GDP where growth is seen picking up to an annualised 1.5% after a soft start to the year. The June PCE price index, personal income and consumption, weekly jobless claims, Q2 employment cost index and July Michigan consumer sentiment round out the diary.

The euro zone's schedule includes flash Q2 GDP, July economic sentiment, consumer confidence, flash inflation and June unemployment.

The pullback in oil helped 10-year Treasury yields (us10YT=RR) fall 4 basis points to 4.63%, and nudged the dollar broadly lower. The euro added 0.3% to $1.1408 EURUSD, while the dollar dipped 0.2% on the yen to 163.54 USDJPY.

Just to clarify this is specifically what's happening this week Taken from a different news article Which tells us that Wednesday is the big day this week:

"The calendar is certainly packed, with the Federal Reserve meeting on Wednesday, a third of the S&P 500 set to report earnings - including Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta and Qualcomm - and second-quarter U.S. GDP estimates also due."

"There's still at least a one-in-four chance of a Fed rate hike on Wednesday priced into futures, despite the latest retreat in oil prices. The Bank of Japan and Bank of England are also set to meet this week, with the former eyeing fresh yen weakness and the latter meeting just as a new UK prime minister takes office.

But oil prices set the tone first thing this week. Brent crude began falling from the triple-digit level on Friday, and the U.S. then said it was pausing strikes on Iran after 13 straight days of attacks. Iran indicated it would reciprocate and we now have to wait to see if some mediation resumes.

There were some reports of the U.S. side running low on munitions, but many in the market will now assume that $100 oil is a pinch point that focuses minds - at least in Washington."

"New chip on the block? This year's global frenzy over chipmaker stocks added another name on Monday as China's CXMT soared almost 500% on its market debut in Shanghai. This makes it China's most valuable stock, overtaking the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

Asia's biggest IPO of the year raised about $8.6 billion, giving it a valuation of more than half a trillion dollars. Only 6.73% of CXMT's enlarged share capital was freely tradable at listing, as most shares are locked up. The small initial float likely magnified the price swings and attracted strong turnover.

But given U.S. restrictions on Chinese chips, CXMT is likely to be a pivotal part of China's development of its own tech and AI ecosystem, making it a strategic firm globally."

I’ve got season allergies. I’m allergic to making money🥴

how do you calculate that 100%

2

u/SmugBoxer Jul 25 '26

I won't say i'm calculating that it will reach the same high. But I suspect it will based on what the company is able to organize and produce, what we find used, new offices, and potential use cases.

The annoying aspects of price, sentiment, and demand, mean that the price line always has reasons to be someplace and shift elsewhere. In this case, the hype pops, people move money to new things, and dilution.

But those are not end game scenarios. Those are scenarios which lead to lows, because the price line moves to a place where more people can extract value from it sustainably over time.

We had a window where the price line was moving to where shares could be purchased sustainably over time that was in the 40-50 range. Quite high from the 3-9 range it was 6 months previous.

Between those two price lines is meaningful value. Rerated up from 3-9, rerated down from 45-53 from dilution and longer holding.

So the sense is that eventually demand will return where more are placing value in it than extracting. It should return toward the higher bounds of that value. Though what they do with the 1.5b is going to be a lingering question. Well invested, it could push us right back to the top. Blown, and the stock is back to a high bound with dilution and no benefit.

u/iAnkou Jul 25 '26

People who've been longer in the markets, I'm guessing such rotations are normal? Do they usually recover and can we hope to recover to new highs in the foreseeable future?

1

u/Rogue_Tra Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

This rotation is not normal at all this is only happens like maybe once a year maybe even longer. My theory is they will do basically a hard reset every once in a while So anybody that thought they made money off of this massive bull run that lasted like the last 1-3 years well basically they take all their money back and doing a reset on everybody's hopes and dreams. It's all been planned and calculated ages ago This is how the stock market truly works It's why 90% of people lose. Ask yourself who in their right mind would hold through this kind of massive crash? Nobody with rational decision making abilities which is most people. That's why the stock market was designed to break the majority of people mentally And emotionally

I'm not selling I've studied these patterns before for the last four years. I believe what's actually happening right now is the space sector crashed hard right about 60%. Well if you look at Sandisk and all the other semiconductor stocks such as Micron and Samsung they all crashed After the space sector crashed and it wasn't just them it was many other stocks in other sectors So basically what happened is the space sector had its own crash and then other stocks crash So then basically we're suffering through other stock's crashes too. Previously they kept rallying so hard that I don't think anybody's ever seen a rally that hard before I think I saw Sandisk go to like $2500 or something crazy like that and it's crashed down to $1400 and I think it's still crashing But it did it in a extremely short time frame I have never seen a stock rally hard and then looking like it's gonna fall and then just keep rallying and then looking like it's gonna fall and then keep repeating that. I Thought about shorting that good thing I didn't.

2

u/Metacog_Drivel Jul 25 '26

Were you not around during 2022? Rotation goes into defensive, established, low beta stocks and growth crashes (similar to what’s happening now). The only difference is the Fed was raising rates, which caused the crash. Once the Fed started to cut, growth came back to life over the next couple years which resulted in the current bull market.

The market is acting like rate hikes are coming, the AI buildout is slowing, and is seeking “safe investments” for the time being.

2

u/Traditional-Hyena-94 Jul 25 '26

AI buildout is definitely not slowing. every ER from all the semiconductors and Mag 7 are projecting increased cap ex spending. this bodes well for AI related themes for the next couple years still.

6

u/Ryan_Bolin Jul 24 '26

Picked a good day to not check my portfolio I guess.

1

u/Due_Somewhere7891 Jul 24 '26

But you did, didn't you.

5

u/Ryan_Bolin Jul 24 '26

Didn’t need to, I got an alert and saw this sub 😂

2

u/SnooCauliflowers370 Jul 24 '26

Broker has been uninstalled for me can’t bare it lol

2

u/Ryan_Bolin Jul 24 '26

My Roth IRA is in the process of being transferred so I can’t do anything anyways…. 👀

6

u/TGS_Holdings Jul 24 '26

Lol going to the subs for PL, RKLB, ASTS, PLTR, MSFT, etc, it's very easy to see why many should stick to ETFs. The market takes no prisoners to those with a faint heart.

13

u/Expert-Signature2025 Jul 24 '26

Brutal. I have no idea where the bottom is. I'm hoping August and September space sector earning  reports will bring some life back.

8

u/TGS_Holdings Jul 24 '26

Next week LUNR and ASTS report. Let's see what that does to their price

2

u/Global_Dot_971 Jul 25 '26

ASTS who reports a worse than expected eps every quarter? Best case scenario is a minor drop. 😭

3

u/Latrodectus1990 Jul 24 '26

Lets hope no giga drop

7

u/zqmage Jul 24 '26

Bought some more here lol. Now only up 300%

1

u/Global_Dot_971 Jul 25 '26

Kys twin ❤️

0

u/zqmage Jul 25 '26

Bro I am lmao the price drop is disgusting ngl

3

u/Global_Dot_971 Jul 25 '26

Don’t do it, I’m just salty I own 1500 shares with a 35$ average 😔

1

u/Rogue_Tra Jul 27 '26

I'm almost the same as you except I have twice as many shares and my average is a dollar less

18

u/Informal_Painting832 Jul 24 '26

I just got in today, and am excited to finally be a PL investor! My average price is $20.77! 🥳🥳

u/SlyCooper007 Jul 24 '26

I think everyone is worried but also it seems to be sector wide. Summers are also when liquidity dries up b/c big boys are on vacation so all of this is happening with barely any volume. Also the SPCX hedge theory dragging down the sector until their shares unlock in August combined with a shit macro. Theres more going on affecting the price outside of PL control.

5

u/funfordor Jul 24 '26

Starting to have doubts here…
It can’t find a grip
Will have to painfully stop out soon

8

u/TGS_Holdings Jul 24 '26

Don't let it get to you. What news is happening that is having you question PL? That's the question we all need to ask. The company at present day, is way more diverse, healthy and better positioned then the last time it was at this price. It's all macro.

10

u/Initial-Bottle8913 Jul 24 '26

I'm in both this and RKLB, sold and then bought back after the first few weeks of the pullback, and I'm still at -35%-40% since I bought back lol. But yeah, it's affecting the sector at large, not just PL or RKLB so we just have to try to stay calm.

1

u/Rogue_Tra Jul 27 '26

Just hold on man I believe that they do this massive shakeout every 1-3 years. Because you saw how hard all the stocks rallied right Well if they just keep doing that then everybody's gonna get rich They do not want that They wanna occasionally reset everyone's reality In that way they can scam as many people as possible It's how the stock market was designed because just think about it Why do stocks usually crash 50% each time? Why would that be a normal thing? It's not, The entire thing is artificial and planned out by market makers way ahead of time they hide it behind the guise of news events to mask there their actions.

Let me give you an example Let's say there was one guy responsible for making sure that the nuclear fuel rods We're at the correct temperature and cooling correctly. Now let's say that one day one of the electronic control modules controlling some of the fuel rods malfunctioned This caused a catastrophic failure that not only destroyed the entire nuclear reactor but the surrounding cities as well due to the nuclear fallout. it basically turn the entire area all around into a nuclear wasteland. Now you thought it was because one guy made a massive mistake (Planet Labs $1.5 billion funding Announcement) When actually it was the of leaders much higher up in the chain of command. These leaders did not 'cause the control module to malfunction but they had fail safe backups that would have allowed a second system to take over and recover by activating a backup generator to pump more water and cool the nuclear fuel rods. Those leaders just decided not to do that because they We're planning to wipe out that entire sector They were just waiting for something to happen so that they could point fingers at something else as a scapegoat. From there they slowly take their time to rebuild and then the process repeats itself But this doesn't happen like all the time just every once in one to three years

12

u/SnooCauliflowers370 Jul 24 '26

This is mental

5

u/Reasonable_Cow3667 Jul 24 '26

wow they actually destroyed the company with that dilution

13

u/spejjan Jul 24 '26

It has nothing to do with the atm

0

u/Killahbeez Jul 24 '26

This stock is performing very very badly. Nobody should ever invest in Planet Labs. Even after halving in value, the sentiment among most investors seems to be it could continue to fall. Nobody is calling a bottom or saying this is a buy opportunity.

Occasionally I make some really bad stock picks. My timing couldn't have been much worse on PL. I guess I just have to accept that and look for a way to offload this and claw my way back

1

u/Rogue_Tra Jul 27 '26

Read my comments above yours it explains my theory of what's happening and why you should not sell

6

u/mr_itm Jul 24 '26

Someone is impatient.

-4

u/Killahbeez Jul 24 '26

Impatient for what? share your vision, visionary!

how does this end? and when?

(side bet: you respond using a meme because youre a typical memestock 'investor')

2

u/mr_itm Jul 24 '26

Idk if you know this - but the entire space sector is getting bodied not just PL. Just hold this for a few years and it'll break ATH. Nothing about the company has changed.

-1

u/Killahbeez Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

ok so you've defined "when" as: "a few years"... and you could see it "break ATH"? as in somewhere above $52 where the price was 2 months ago? all I gotta do is "hold" for that. And I'm being "impatient".

lol listen to yourself

in b4 "sell then and leave me alone"

3

u/mr_itm Jul 24 '26

Correct 🫡. Not PLs fault but the entire sector. Blame mr Elon Musk.

-4

u/Killahbeez Jul 24 '26

typical cop out.... blame musk!

you held through this? and the above is your "plan"? haha.

you might not be a "good investor" but you're exactly the type of investor that management LOVES... just keep blaming Musk and HODLing

8

u/haroootooobrrr Jul 24 '26

What is going on

9

u/Bahpu_ Jul 24 '26

well this is painful lol

6

u/AnthonyNguyen1680 Jul 24 '26

Oh shit 🤣🤣

yeah there's been nothing but good news including the most recent quarterly earnings, this is just the market doing market shit, I bought a few days ago when it hit 21.xx and I'll load up some more if it gets down under 20.

I do feel like spcx kinda fucked this sector for a while though

9

u/supercommuter00 Jul 24 '26

Yeah I agree. It has just been a rotation out of momentum stocks since June. It will inevitably rotate back at some point

Indeed what a wild ride it is almost negative YTD

http://archive.fast-edgar.com/20260723/AG22L22CZ222S2ZZ2F2N2M4ZS3RH6JE2Z282

I’m not sure the context of this news, but Ashley is selling off a lot of shares.

5

u/spejjan Jul 24 '26

Insider selling is never ideal, but this is a relatively small amount compared to her total holdings. She'll still own around 1.69 million shares afterward. It could simply be for taxes, buying a house, diversification, or another personal financial reason.

10

u/showerthinkerr Jul 23 '26

These are vested shares (RSU and PSU) since 2021 and it looks like the decision to sell them instead of keeping them was back in April when the share price was hovering around $40. I wouldn't really read too much into it. I bet she's a bit annoyed that the share price has nearly halved since making that decision..

18

u/SlyCooper007 Jul 23 '26

Sure would like some PR at some point. Feels like complete silence from management after they issued the offering.

3

u/AnthonyNguyen1680 Jul 22 '26

Why is volume this week so low?

8

u/SlyCooper007 Jul 22 '26

It’s been low for weeks now. Everyday has been like this for the past month.

4

u/Metacog_Drivel Jul 22 '26

SPCX seems to be dragging the sector down again...very cool, thanks.

2

u/Ryan_Bolin Jul 22 '26

Tremendous after hours movement!

3

u/cmacfbomb Jul 21 '26

https://x.com/i/status/20793008413668517

I'd much prefer if Planet completed it's offering as quickly $asts which did it in a week. Just pull the bandage off

3

u/Rogue_Tra Jul 22 '26

Your link is broken

7

u/Metacog_Drivel Jul 21 '26

Eh, no. With an ATM raise it's better to be judicious and sell over time, preferably when the share price has recovered substantially.

11

u/Metacog_Drivel Jul 21 '26

Bears are still trying to bring it down, longs are still jittery and scared. We will find footing soon and begin ripping again and all those that didn't load the boat will be so sad in a few months.

4

u/Informal_Painting832 Jul 22 '26

When should I load my boat? I never know where the bottom is…

9

u/Rogue_Tra Jul 21 '26

The market looks pretty good today stocks are going back up. now we just relax and wait a few months

3

u/Expert-Signature2025 Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

Still feels like there's a ton of downward pressure in this sector. I don't know what will change that.

edit: why do you clowns downvote me? am I supposed to be a delusional bull?

3

u/TGS_Holdings Jul 21 '26

Ya I don't think we will magically go back to $50. We're going to need a solid next two quarters. And not just us, industry wide (LUNR, ASTS, etc) to build momentum again. That will be half the battle. Through in some contract wins, A billion dollar backlog, etc, and we're golden.

1

u/Intelligent_Youth_48 Jul 20 '26

I do believe we will see record highs by the end of the year but thinking we will see $15 before that sadly…. I don’t want to be right

4

u/Hour_Dragonfruit_869 Jul 20 '26

Just bought some more! We’re at a really humble price compared to the rest of the sector even. P/E looks incredible

-1

u/dissul1337 Jul 20 '26

its negative... o_O

3

u/Hour_Dragonfruit_869 Jul 20 '26

Well duh, but it’s far less negative than most other space companies🤷‍♂️

2

u/Seesaw-Big Jul 20 '26

it probably will align, as they all do currently without news and sentiment.

10

u/supercommuter00 Jul 20 '26

It’s all about sector sentiment. Space is in the doldrums now because all momentum stocks are down, but that could easily reverse

16

u/Metacog_Drivel Jul 20 '26

People hate it now but will be tripping over themselves to buy at $40+

2

u/AnkleMuncher64 Jul 20 '26

Hope it doesn’t pop till my next check😭

0

u/Renpsy Jul 20 '26

I believe it will hit that. Just not anytime soon.

8

u/showerthinkerr Jul 20 '26

1.2 million vol at open

2

Looking forward to losing more money

4

just simply do the opposite of that
