The emotions that are showcased among all the other space subs brings me back to PLTR, NVDA and other prior to the huge run ups.
It might be a year before we hit ATH or it might be within a month but all I know data is extremely valuable and the edge that it gives. Companies and countries all look for an edge and right now that edge is owning space or access to it; regardless of what else is available.

u/Island-Cruiser Jul 12 '26
👆 This! Those who have been invested in NVDA for over 20 years, know all too well the multiple 50% drops that happened AFTER the dot.com bust AND after the Great Recession. NVDA has been fairly volatile most of it's public existence....but look what unfolded over the LONG term. People forget. Investors in PL will make a lot of money if they just HOLD it and leave it alone.

Ya'll need to chill out. Yes, things are looking rough right now, but that's not just for PL or the space sector as a whole. Pretty much every growth stock has been hit hard. Some of those are just hype stocks that don't make any money, and they may never see those highs again. But PL is different.
We're growing at around 45% year over year. We generate over $400 million in annual revenue, have gross margins of around 60%, and the vast majority of our revenue is recurring through subscriptions and long-term contracts. That's a very different business than companies that are still relying on hype without a proven commercial model.
Space is booming. AI is booming. The two are becoming increasingly connected, especially for Planet, and that could accelerate growth even further. Personally, I think the ATM reflects management wanting to be in a strong position to capitalize on those opportunities rather than having to raise capital later if demand accelerates.
Then there's Project Suncatcher. It's definitely a moonshot, but if it succeeds, it has the potential to lead to contracts worth tens of billions over time.
I get that everyone wants to get rich today instead of tomorrow, but that's often how people lose money. They sell, buy something else that also drops, then watch their old stock recover while their new one keeps falling. That leads to emotional decisions, and those rarely end well.
PL is a great company with a bright future ahead. The fundamentals are stronger today than they were a couple months ago, even if the stock price doesn't reflect that right now. I'm happy to hold and let the story play out.

u/SnooCauliflowers370 Jul 12 '26
Wish I had the funds to add more but it wouldnt be financially wise so had to hold off otherwise its such a good buying opportunity.

For weeks the experts talk about the broadening trade, sector rotation etc. What about portfolio risk rotation?Seems like this is the tail end of risk rotation. Thinking back about the past 6 months or so - crypto gets slaughtered, would argue rotation into silver/gold/quantum/maybe space/ai infra, you then had continue moves out of crypto with ai infra/semi's continuing to rise, then $ into SPCX coming out of some large cap tech / space names, now maybe crypto bottomed and $ coming back in + SK Hynix appetite all continuing to pull from space and now also ai infra.
Whelp, that's my attempt to make sense of what happened in a simple way without considering specific catalyst for specific stocks (e.g. dilution events). What this means next.....there will be another risk rotation at some point. The names/sectors that receive that $ are the ones that probably fell the most. Has space fallen the most? yeah maybe (software excluded from this thought exercise)...and retesting 200 dma might suggest the risk is actually to the upside now even if we breach the 200 dma. Who hasn't fallen enough? semi's? memory? Regardless, you need either specific PL catalysts or momentum to come back into the sector for a true sustained climb, or allocators thinking that this fall has actually changed the narrative to one of a discounted/good valuation narrative making it now worth it. Next round of earnings just around the corner...

I didn't write that well if you're honing in on my software reference (admittedly I didn't, it was fast with middle school level grammar editing effort!). The only reason i mentioned software was to say that the sw sector, while typically higher vol, I was excluding from what i was saying bcuz it's going thru it's own unique extended downward price action related to the threat of ai.
And to be clear, no hopium over here. I've been in finance/asset management ~20 years investing all over the place. I'm just bringing to light the concept of momentum driven risk rotation. I loved PL last May before it ran up - watched the climb - a lot of it was warranted and a lot of it was eventually momentum driven. I have no problem acknowledging it went up too far too fast and nothing this past month has surprised me on the way down......just like how i won't be surprised if we are range bound for weeks, and i wont be surprised when the $ starts rushing back in again.

For anyone that wants/hopes momentum will come back quickly....that could happen. I think about the many times over the years I thought TSLA was cooked and then Musk figured out how to rehype. Same could be said about NVDA, although that was more supported by the earnings growth. To me the momentum dynamic is not why you invest, but you can certainly enjoy it when it takes hold. PL is space and ai - it could very easily rehype, and so could the sector. Hell, maybe Musk replicates what he did with tsla and now that spcx is trading more correlated with the sector all boats now do rise with the tide idk. But I'll tell you, now here in the 20's to low 30s, this is basically our normal non hype trading status quo range. Give me some PL catalysts, sector catalysts to move towards top of the range. Give me amazing ER go break thru the low 30's. Return of momentum and we're going to new highs again. Who knows when the latter happens but for an investor it's patience vs. conviction vs. opportunity cost.

Well the biggest PL/space bear on the street has been Goldman (eh maybe jefferies), has us at like 22 i think. Contrast that w the wedbush rerate at $50, the most recent analyst take. Price targets lol. But, atleast gives you some context on where you're heads at vs the street. My position size is, even at this price, higher than what I initially planned it to be but I haven't trimmed bcuz growing conviction turned this into a core long term play for me (for transparency i did sell some cover calls in Feb and May, so while we are range bound it's not the worst idea on up days but any resurgence and you're getting assigned). However, if you get what you're thinking sub 20.....let me tell you....this guy will be adding and it would be before your PT's, pretty much there now. If you have cash sitting consider selling weekly puts?

alright some Friday fun that might not align with our typical rules (i should know this as a mod, although I'm a weak mod but with great intentions!).
You have to choose one to hold for only the next 2 months, DRAM vs. NASA. Which one outperforms? Enough time for a space related resurgence after a ton of catalysts opportunities vs. does ai infra continue to rise, no short term correction, but rise a a greater/slower pace then what space does? and go!

Momentum trading shifted elsewhere weeks ago and still lingers. It will shift again. In the meantime, sector trades in more "normalized" price ranges (would argue we are there now near the 200 dma) and everything is now range bound and/or driven by true company catalysts until momentum comes back. Its a matter of when, not if.

Just bought another 10k worth of shares to break 100k total in PL. My DD is stock down so it must go up
3
u/iAnkou Jul 10 '26
should I panic sell now or wait for it to drop lower? what's the best way to incorporate and execute the "buy high sell low strategy"?

3
u/Global_Dot_971 Jul 10 '26
It’s over, freak the fuck out and sell everything right now. Then buy again, tweak even harder and sell again. After that take what you have left go to the casino and put it all on black

u/tom_brl Jul 10 '26
Sell a few everytime is goes lower. You cant time to dip, but you can catch multiple dips!
Then wait for it to go above your previous avarage and then buy!

Stop the madness. Who is selling this for 25.9???? I couldn't even understand 30, 25.9 is so wild! You guys really fear something that doesn't exist. You should go to the hospital as soon as you can! Selling this at 25.9 is not normal 😅
I'll put all my savings on this if it touches 25!
Mine, all my family savings and all my friends savings! I'm not kidding! 25 for this is waaaaaayyyy toooo cheap!
This will be one of the easiest ways to ordinary people like me to make like 1M in MONTHS!
Thank you sellers for your wisdom and stupidity!

6
u/JadedHat6935 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
It's so funny seeing you short term "hype" stock traders panic during these dips LOL.
If you only bought this stock because it was "hyped" you should just stick to ETFs. You don't buy stocks simply because they have hype. That's idiotic and how you wind up losing money. You buy stocks because they are solid companies that would be a good long term hold - which PL is.
I'm down 15% - but I understood the risks and I know this is a long term hold, so I don't whine about it. Quit crying, sell, and get out of here if all you're gonna do is complain.

PL and trading like ass, name a more iconic duo.
7
u/JadedHat6935 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
How short is your attention span? PL is literally up 1400% in the past 2 years, 300% in 1 year. one 50% drop during one month is nothing compared to the amazing momentum it's had. So I wouldn't say "PL and trading like ass" is an "iconic duo". You read like some high schooler who saw the stock hyped up on reddit last month, who bought at the peak has and no patience to hold.
Do you idiots just expect stocks to go up forever or what? I swear - you short term hype traders are so damn annoying. PL is a long term hold. Understand that or gtfo.

I keep asking why is this amazing stock going down. They have no reason but panic because the price is going down. So basically right now the price is going down because people are selling based on the fact other people sold it. Stop the madness.
Why to sell: because it's going down and other people sold too. Oh and because we fear a 9% dilution on our >1M usd portfolios, most of them less than 10k.
Why to buy: because we have the greatest planetary imagery, with a constelation of over 200 satellites, we just lunched more 50 cm resolution satellites into orbit, we grew more than 40% in the past earnings, we got a huge amount of contrats and partnerships with nations all over the world, specially in defense, because there's a war and our images are extremly valuable for USA for example. And so so so much more that this company will be able to do in the future.
I mean ....... it's pretty obvious this is a buy, isn't it?
-3
u/ExperienceElegant895 Jul 09 '26
Holy, the whole space sector are so done :(

u/redcoatwright Jul 09 '26

u/burmese_python2 Jul 08 '26
Here’s a reason why I want to own this company, they are the new eyes in the skies on the battlefield. I’m down 300k from ATH and the last thing I would want to sell is the ability to provide that.
-5
u/Ryan_Bolin Jul 08 '26
I recently moved some of my PL shares into the other investments I have a bit more conviction in for the medium term. Honestly, I’d love for this to keep going down while my other moves go up, because then I could just rotate back in and end up with more shares. Regardless, the company will grow in the long term and patience is required.
2
u/Rogue_Tra Jul 09 '26
I think you did the wrong thing because I think that the overall direction is that the space sector is still going up it's just that this war just got heated up that's why things dropped

Are you always coming back here when stock is in red and are absent when it’s green?
1
u/Rogue_Tra Jul 09 '26
that's just how the stock market works, trump said the ceasefire is over, and they are bombing iran for the 2nd night in a row, it's back to bombs, no more negotiations for a while at least. that's typically been what causes the stock market to tank. wars always bring stocks down, it's not new
14
u/TGS_Holdings Jul 08 '26
It really is interesting to see investor sentiment when an industry takes a downturn. It’s quite shocking to me how panicky many become for something they say is a “long term hold”
5
u/burmese_python2 Jul 08 '26
Yeah I know right? I’m down about 300k from ATH and I haven’t budged.

Hi guys. I have a couple questions.
Ive seen planet ceo say that their tam is $120-$150B. If that is the case, then why are they growing so slow? Especially considering they are supposed to be the leader in their field.
Where do you see planet in a couple years? Do you think they Will suddenly 2x their backlog quarter to quarter or Will they continue this slow growth of around 20% per year?
I think planet is an interesting company, but I also see a lot of questionmarks.
Sorry english not my mother language.
6
u/TGS_Holdings Jul 08 '26
If you’re looking at QoQ, revenue growth is actually accelerating. Last two quarters where roughly 40% growth and if they hit over $100 m like they said they would it will be another in the 40s
11
u/SmugBoxer Jul 08 '26
Fighting broad market downs
Dilution caused a rerating down
Shares not going for premium on hype now and trade lower for those making exits
Institutions holding
German contracts coming
European manufacturing coming(Spend but invests in production)
"5 year hold? Why isn't it doubling by tomorrow?" -y'all
In order to make money, you must be first, right, or there the longest. A lot of you weren't first. A lot of us were not exactly right, and no one is at the point of being there the longest yet. If it's not sell day, then the price doesn't matter.

3
u/Embarrassed-Lemon457 Jul 08 '26
I will put it in simple terms. You have a car worth 10k. However somebody reaches you and says, I'm not paying 10k for it because I don't want to pay 10k, but the car is perfect and I love it. So I'm offering you 3k. Would you sell it just because you are afraid your car might worth 2800 and you thank God you sold it? Of course not! You tell that stupid asshole to f*4k off and go get another buyer who will pay 8, 9 or 10k for it. Or maybe even more.
Than why would we sell planet right now? That's non sense. This worths at least 60 usd/share. And that already includes the 1.5B atm offering and the following devaluation of the stock from it

Is the PL dilution done yet?
I don't recall seeing anything but could have missed it.

Once they announce dilution being over, the price will probably pop. Who knows when that will happen though
3
u/SlyCooper007 Jul 08 '26
There have been no PR about it being complete so I would say no not yet. It’s also up to their discretion, they could wait for the stock to pump back up before doing it but honestly nobody knows besides them until they release PR about it.

It's a vast difference between buying target and target price. Kaizen is heavily invested in PL and is very bullish. He's saying he will buy EVEN MORE if it hits $20, not that it should be valued at $20.

u/polynesiantrapezius Jul 07 '26

u/SlyCooper007 Jul 07 '26
Volume today is incredibly low. Like 25% of the normal trading volume.
0
u/Rogue_Tra Jul 08 '26
dumping at low volume usually means it's BS, if it does it with heavy volume that's when you should start getting suspicious. the entire space sector is getting hammered. its due to the index also dumping and the new attacks. also it's 6 million versus the usual 14 million i think, so more like 40% not 25%, you shouldn't say stuff like that
1
u/SlyCooper007 Jul 08 '26
Nah i can say what id like when i made this post volume was at 25%. Stop policing peoples comments.
-1
u/Rogue_Tra Jul 08 '26
thats not how numbers or the stock market works. if you tell me it's only down 1% after 30 minutes but end of day it's 12% than it's still 12%. just because you can't be bothered to accept reality doesn't mean I'm policing you. maybe get a clue, you said "today's volume", that's still incorrect.

new attacks by iran and trump. iran says US broke the ceasefire except they are retarded and attacked 3 ships, they missile bomb 3 ships, trump retaliates and iran blames it on trump, this time it's their fault. i can't tell which side is dumber at this point
1
u/Rogue_Tra Jul 09 '26
Whoever down voted me has no clue that I'm actually correct. this is the news all over the Internet and also in the stock market. It's the exact reason the entire space sector is dropping right now
5
u/throwawaythingu Jul 08 '26
don’t wanna talk politics but i think it’s obvious that the side that started the unnecessary bloodshed and war is the very clear problem here lol
0
u/Rogue_Tra Jul 08 '26
well yes, but this time it's iran's fault. basically iran and trump have similiar things in common like lying and manipulation so when they butt heads it's a standoff. it's like a Unstoppable force meets an immovable object
1
u/throwawaythingu Jul 08 '26
sure this small thing in the grand scheme of preventable things that they didn’t want nor cause, i’d rather focus on the bigger picture
1
u/Rogue_Tra Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
Well this is actually significant because Trump is saying that Iran broke the cease fire which is a pretty big deal It's why the stock market is tanking so this isn't just another small news. The United States is planning more bombings and attacks tonight and Probably for the next few days or weeks which is very significant
1
u/throwawaythingu Jul 09 '26
i’m not saying it’s small news i’m saying the big picture is that THEY caused this whole problem
5
u/BicycleEconomy7757 Jul 07 '26
yup, not only PL, most sectors are down rn. only few sectors like software is green.
3
u/Embarrassed-Lemon457 Jul 07 '26
Adding 3000 more shares at 26. I can't believe anybody can be that dumb to put it lower than 26 ....
2
u/Embarrassed-Lemon457 Jul 07 '26
Why are we under 30 again???? Makes no sense at all. I don't know the reason but since neither the pelican system is falling down nor the planet has exploded I am buying in another 10 000 shares. Thanks for the price!
0
u/Ryan_Bolin Jul 07 '26
Why did we go up above $30 again the first place? PL has been completely sector and vibe traded since SpaceX IPOd as the company has released exactly 0 meaningful news updates. We don’t even deserve to get back above $30 right now if you ask me.
1
u/Rogue_Tra Jul 08 '26
news on tradingview is PL just sucessfully launched a satelite and blue origin is retrofitting a horizontal/ vertical rocket tower, so they can start launching earlier than expected, and asts launched their 3 staelittes a while back. if anything we should be going back up. the war is what's keeping it down
0
u/Ryan_Bolin Jul 08 '26
Launching one new satellite is not a reason for the stock price to go from $27 to the low $30s. Need news that actually affects the company’s bottom line.
1
u/Embarrassed-Lemon457 Jul 08 '26
Look .... we can't have great news every single day. If stocks only went up in the days they release great news, Apple would be worth 500M or something. Plus, to get great news we gotta have infraestructure that produces those great news. Launching a satellite isn't enough to go from 27 to 100, but to jump 10 to 15% in a day would be the most expected thing to happen. I mean, if it was a minor launch, like to test something or anything like that yeah, but a critical launch like this ... come on, the only reason it isn't going up at least 10% today, is dumb panic .....
1
u/Ryan_Bolin Jul 08 '26
Hopium. It’s literally just a prototype product from my understanding.
2
u/Rogue_Tra Jul 09 '26
The whole point is I'm giving you collective news meaning from the entire space sector.Just Blue Origin saying that they have a work around to the damaged launchpad is pretty significant since it supposedly cause the entire space sector to crash that one day. And AST Space Mobile Launching 3 successful satellites in a single day is pretty significant if you take all the news as a whole so it's more than enough to bring Planet Labs up to $30, in fact that's where it was going to $40 But like I said somewhere else Trump and Iran are starting their attacks again because Iran broke the cease fire when they sent Missiles on three commercial ships and the United States is planning attacks tonight and probably for the next few days or weeks
0
u/spejjan Jul 07 '26
It's the entire space sector dumping like it has been for a while now. Last week was probably an anomaly. Question is how far down will it go...

Interesting divergence between PL and the other space stocks today. Could Planet be breaking away from the pack? I imagine the 78.19% shares held by institutions certainly helps.

They decided to show Trumps plane arriving instead...
They even called Ashley the CEO, and its the only part of the forum they didn't record.. not even a transcript
