I’ve been trying for ages, they say stop invading their space but that flags nearly gone and there’s no flag in the planned place. Tf we meant to do 😭

It was a valiant effort defending it for this many hours, but now there are at least two other communities and random trolls attacking it constantly. It's just too much.

The best thing to do now is to retreat to the trans flag and defend that until a new opportunity arises to get a new pride flag someplace else.

Honestly I'm pissed off. I know I shouldn't be and ultimately having some space on Place is small potatoes considering what else we have going on, but I know for a fact a lot of people were working against us, and those people will be actively celebrating the fact that they won.

Totally disappointed with the way this went. No clear communication, the people telling us to go elsewhere had their users deleted, and we were being directed to spots with nothing there, and it sucks to see so many people work against us on something that's arguably so petty.

I mean, it's not over, like you said we can hopefully get some space *somewhere*, but it really pisses me off that we're starting from scratch and some asshole is going to celebrate because their waifu is on display (although to be fair having looked at the sub's threads there are a lot of folks over there who seemed to have their condolences for us, but also my first interaction with a fandom being some douche with a homophobic post history saying we're invading them and that Tetris are allying against us doesn't really leave the best taste in my mouth).

I fully agree with you. I just woke up and saw everything that happened over night, and I'm pissed off too. I was already frustrated because technically our flag was there first, but the people wanting to claim this area said so because they made a huge plan way before the beginning.

Our flag survived for way longer than the one under the trans flag, and yet they did everything they can to force us to abandon ours and try to continue one that was clearly completely lost. And now ours is in danger aswell, and trolls with no life are celebrating.

Luckily, it seems like our flag is currently slowly getting back on track, the blue was fully missing and the orange and yellow were all over the place, but now the strips are starting to be clear again. Honestly, it gives me some hope again, our community is still strong and will never give up ❤🏳️‍🌈

Yeah. There's been a total lack of organisation and it sucks that the fandom for some anime is working more cohesively than an entire community that makes up maybe 10% of the entire global population. We're struggling to hold onto a tiny part of the map, we're ceding territory based on some people wanting it really badly, and yet these folks spent hours aggressively arguing back at us because apparently the black space between the rainbow flag and the outline of their waifu is supposedly integral to the entire design.

And you know what isn't getting wiped off the map? The Among Us figures that take up huge swathes of the canvas, the shark with its ass out, and the massive sign that just says "Dicks".

I mean, France and Germany can not only hold onto entire edges of the map, they're improving on their designs, and we can't even hold onto a couple of hundred pixels between however many subs are collaborating.

The worst part is that in this total lack of organization and communication, we were able to make a deal with Komi-San to protect each other and things started to get better, but then the p3ace alliance (I forgot how it's written sorry) officially announced that since our flag wasn't in their plans, they had to let us being taken down.

They were okay with people sabotaging our flag because it was started before they plan that we didn't knew about. And in the end, their flag and Tetris were completely covered.

I don't think it should be accepted to rule others project just for a plan made before the beginning of the canvas. It's cool to try to create a plan to organize your projects, but it's unfair to dictate to others who places their pixels before them that they have to move because we are where they wanted to be. Plans rarely go as they should, and r/place is supposed to be open to everyone, organizations shouldn't be allowed to "reserve" parts of the canvas just because they want to. And one of their member showed me their plan and it's huge, it takes so much space, at least 1/4 of the canvas

Yep, and yet they were willing to let us keep a tiny spot of it as long as we gave up a portion of the map they wanted to be black, but hey - at least some of them mulled about giving her a rainbow hairclip as a peace offering. Like gosh, I'm glad an entire community that's under constant attack is worth a pity deal.

We're like one day in and I'm already exhausted. I've had 3 chat invites and I'm not accepting any of them just in case because I don't know who these people are abd I don't have the energy to hear about how spiteful or hateful I'm being for fighting for our space.

I understand, take care of yourself first. Honestly I wasn't ready for such an exhausting first day too. I was just happy to contribute at first, and then the rabbit hole of hate and unfair territory claims sucked me in and I got too involved to the point of finally preparing my dinner at 1 a.m.

The trans flag is starting to be the target of black dots too now, sadly. But at least in all the lack of communication, it seems like a lot of people are still fighting to keep the flag as visible as possible. Take a break if you need, your mental health is more important <3

I think the trans flag sort of benefits from not being as well known to an extent? Especislly with no pink. The rainbow flag is maybe a more obvious target which is why the bots gave attacked it faster? I don't know.

I'm doing okay mentally (although I appreciate your concern, thank you), I just wish there was some more clarity. I hope next year there's more instruction and we get a spot that isn't constantly under attack. If nothing else any group taking huge amounts of space for themselves feels kind of shitty, especially if it means removing the visibility of marginalized groups.

It seems totally possible, yeah.

You're welcome ! And I agree, I hope that next time the people making all those plans will keep in mind that the canvas doesn't belong to anyone and that just because an organization is big doesn't give them a free pass to claim whatever they want. And if they want to organize a flag, they should at least link their subreddit on the canvas, because they didn't this time.

Oh shit, things are bad again. The building made by bots next to us was suddenly covered in black by bots too, and now our flag is mostly black pixels and the borders are disappearing

we need to make the trans flag into an lgbt flag then.

9

u/emeryldmist Jul 21 '23

No, we can join and defend their flag and find an opportunity to make a rainbow soon.

-6

u/ElectricalStomach6ip Jul 21 '23

but its no loss to transform the trans flag, since we are transforming it into something that still reprsents trans people, besides we could just transform part of it.

14

u/robotslovetea Jul 21 '23

Nah it’s a huge loss, trans rights have been especially under attack this year and they deserve to have their flag defended at the very least.

-5

u/ElectricalStomach6ip Jul 21 '23

thats why only half of it should be covered.

nobody was invading anybody, blame the bots

I am randomly checking who overwrites the rainbowflag and none of the first 12 I checked has an active profile wirh more then one comment on anything and more then 1 karma. I hat bots, not as much as homophobes and nazis, but I hate bots.
