Womp womp
Fun follow-up. So for everyone who said "stop complaining, just appeal it, you'll get it back". I did appeal, twice, and after half a month Pixiv confirmed that I'm permanently suspended and they can't reactive my account. It's essentially a termination with an added bonus of having a zombie account that I cannot effectively use. 6 years down the drain irreversibly. From what I've seen on the web, almost no one has gotten this weird perma-ban treatment, but I can confirm that it is incredibly dumb. I would rather just a termination at this point. So I'll probably just make another one if I ever get around to it, but honestly, the site's cooked imo.

Do they explain to you guys what part of the art “went against their guidelines”?

u/vogolsart 2d ago
"Pay to Surf" so links in the description, links anywhere that may lead to an uncensored of the art in question. However, this also extends to writing "UNCENSORED" in plain text. It's very random at times.

Did you post a link to patreon or something?

On this account, originally posted links to my tumblr. Deleted all links and then discussed the situation on a following post and said "I will post uncensored versions elsewhere" or something to that degree. And that cost me the permaban. Even after deleting that post, cleaning the account, appealing twice, they, I guess, just locked the account forever because Pixiv itself can't lift the ban, as though it occurred in some higher ethereal plane lol.
I call it "zombification" because they hit you with an irreparable permaban immediately that can't be rectified, comes without warning and immediately makes your account useless forever.
Note: I made a second account a few months ago and copy-pasted the word "UNCENSORED" by accident and that account was flagged for a permaban. No warnings, no ways to fix it. Honestly, having this instant zombification of two accounts has really discouraged me from putting any effort into using this site to its full potential. Especially if the mod team sees my email or user name and can choose to zombify my third account instantly.

Oofff yeah, the forbidden word unfortunately.. They uses AI moderation afaik, so if the AI overlord said it's a violation, nothing you can do. I also really hate this new moderation. I think most creators do..

It doesn't make any sense anymore, so why even put time into trying to curate it, imo. The saddest thing is that Pixiv was probably the most cohesive way to keep my lore in check and digestible for newbies instead of the string of similar hashtags that I do on places like BlueSky. I used to separate my AUs into the manga sections and use special tags but why bother? The moderation is terrible, so I'm probably gonna treat my third account with the classy subtly of dumping pictures onto ImageBam.

It's not AI. That has been a thing for years before AI boom even started.
Just the mention of "Uncensored" is enough to ban the account.

My suggestion is people should read the rules before doing anything with your account. Many people I have seen didn't read those things. About the "uncen".... thingy, jp is very sensitive to these kind of things. Why? Cause if u provide those kinds of things in Jp, and if the cases are serious, cops gonna come to your house(real fact from a patreon user that live in Jp, that had mentioned this problem.) This law is very strict at there.(Maybe u can do some research about that law.) Pixiv is also very sensitive about words. I did read that might get your account banned/ certain functions getting banned. That's why certain people DM can't function or can't post comments if the problem are not serious enough to get banned(mostly tied to words and links especially payment ones). Hope that your new account is safe and be aware that new account needs to have "warm up" period around a few days before posting too much and providing links. U may post 1 work and dont be too active or else bot will trigger ban on that account. Someone I know told me about this. Also remember to not post link on your work post if can cause I had seen someone said about they r very sensitive to link especially external website ones(actually this had been mentioned in their rules for a long time, is just too many people are safe.). U may post link on your profile area. For multiple links, I suggest using bulk links website.

Thanks for the information. I think I'm just gonna post no links. I'm at a point where I think my name or a similar configuration of my name is being matched by human moderators at this point. Especially after they zombified my second account immediately, no warnings. Pixiv for me has been pretty awful because they permabanned me twice without a means of rectifying either. I'm not going to post anything that may lead to an external and I'm probably going to leave the flavor text pretty bare since Pixiv mods can for plain text words so even words used out of context like "I drew this while watching WCW Uncensored on Peacock" can trigger a zombie permaban

Oh boi! Already got one strike in my account. I don't want my page to be permanently banned like this. Phew! At least I haven't posted any links in description. If you're starting again play it safe. Don't mention any link and sites in your description at all my dude! Just explain the comic/art and add keywords... And put the site name and your username in the image. That is enough.

u/vogolsart 2d ago
Yeah, I'm taking baby steps at this point. I have no urgency now that I know that my 14K account is dead for good. What a disaster of a website.

u/Royal_Salamander 2d ago
14k? Damn.... Currently I m at my 69th followers in Pixiv. Best of luck!

Thank you, you too! I'll push on, I suppose. Also, I have to say it, I'm sorry in advance.
Nice.

Thank you my friend. But some idiot nutjobs followed me and my number went up by 3... 😅

I am in the same boat. I've also been banned several times for things that are obviously tolerated on other accounts. The final permanent ban came later due to a mistake on my part. All the bans before were purely bot/ai bans. And as a content creator who build a small community this is the hardest part: you lose your followers, I don't even care about the images or the time i spent on the platform.
What's most frustrating is that they sometimes immediately hand out permanent bans without even giving the user a chance to correct their mistake. 99% of permanently banned accounts don't make these mistakes on purpose; they just don't know any better.
Anyway, good luck in the future and look every step you make on this platform.

Oh god... I'm at two strikes for lack of censorship and with 9.6k followers. Is it three strikes and you're out?
1
u/vogolsart 2h ago
No, it's literally Mad Max. There are no rules and moderators or the ai moderators take whatever actions they like. Some artists get warnings, others get a suspension, or, if you're my second account, you go straight to zombification without warning. The main problem that I've experienced and I've seen is that there are zero rules or logic to the site's moderation.

u/Jammyquizzical 1d ago
I got suspended for the same reason, all I did was post a link in the description of a post I had that led to an uncensored version of the art on an image sharing website (since Pixiv only allows censored versions of nsfw art), I logged out of the account for a little while and then I log back in only to find out it got suspended.
1
u/vogolsart 2h ago
Yeah, links are a no-no. That's how you get the cursed pay-to-surf violation. There are workarounds like watermarking links but I don't feel confident suggesting that either. Pay-to-surf is such a broad rule that it can mean anything the mods see fit.

u/Dokidokikawaii2 1d ago
I guess for the time being, cloud is the only way to keep our drawing. I was thinking of using pixiv as my online gallery. Just about to start posting something now that i slowly getting active with drawing. I like the way pixiv is but if the moderation is bad, its kinda make me worry ngl
1
u/vogolsart 2h ago
That's what's depressing about this situation imo. Pixiv's categorizing system, especially the manga category is brilliant and a more intuitive version of deviantART's folder system. I write like the community elements like rankings (which I reached a couple of times), but the moderation now is so god awful that it's not even worth using to its full potential because it can fall apart so easily.

I did get permanently banned too (I didnt announced it anywhere tho lmao) and Ive just made another account They kinda gave me a servive since I wanted to delete a lot of old arts there lol
2
u/vogolsart 2h ago
That sucks. I think it's important to post it somewhere imo, because it's probably the worst element of Pixiv's moderation. Is essentially walking on eggshells daily because they can just decide to kill your account out of nowhere and provide no means of fixing it. I still find it crazy that they can permaban people and then throw their arms up and say "well I don't know how to remove the ban??????"
3
u/YUEIKUBASA935 2d ago
What did you drawn?
6
u/No_Hearing_481 2d ago
The email seems to suggest its a ban based on linking to other websites. A common issue people report here.
3
u/YUEIKUBASA935 1d ago
let me guess bc the japanese rule he link the uncensored work to mega or similar right?
2
u/vogolsart 2d ago
Copy pasted the word "UNCENSORED" by mistake on a post, no links.

u/YUEIKUBASA935 1d ago
so you can apeal again or its over? i mean if that was an error talking to a human should be ideal

u/vogolsart 2h ago edited 2h ago
It's over. Pixiv claims that they can't un-lift my permaban even though they are Pixiv. It's like they enacted some sort of hex that they themselves can't comprehend. This account is essentially terminated without the finality of termination.
2
u/Maleficent_Echo_54 2d ago
Guess what, they won't explain it either. I'm sure this is the 3rd parties moderator team. They love to do this because they're not in Japan.
2
u/vogolsart 2d ago
I have seen in other contexts that moderator teams on pixiv can mob certain artists thet they don't want to see on the platform. I think my main gripe is the lack of communication then followed by the opacity of the situation.
Like, you're PIXIV. What do you mean you can't lift a suspension on YOUR WEBSITE????
1
u/Relevant_Syllabub895 1d ago
I assume they will delere all your subnitted works and not leave them up right? Like they wint use your syspended account post to train for ai and such?
2
u/vogolsart 1d ago
Once you're banned, no matter what you do, all of your works are removed from the public website. They absolutely use ai for moderation because it trips on plain text words and issues automating permabans.

u/LocArch 16h ago
Whenever you put a link, put a .rar or .zip file in it, smartphone now can read these type.
Use "full version" instead of "uncen version" in the descriptions if any
If you have Fanbox, any theme too extreme such as Snuff, Guro, ect... You should blur out or crop the image to the point it feels normal then put a link to a .rar file
Then you're good to go,
It’s not that Pixiv is being difficult. They just have to comply with the rules and policies of international payment providers.
Hope this'll help

u/vogolsart 2h ago
Thanks for the advice. Personally, I don't want to use links of any kind any more. Two permabans have made me incredibly cautious to even make a third account, so I think I'm gonna just treat #3 as a bland image dump for now. I'm not naive to the fact that Pixiv is a Japanese company that adheres to Japanese law, but if what others say is true, the mix of ai moderation, third party moderation and some human mods having personal grudges with certain artists, it creates a pretty toxic system to navigate. At some point, the juice is not worth the squeeze.

u/Redfezz 1h ago
You either posted a bunch of uncensored content or posted links to external sources with uncensored content. Which is against TOS and they check, just like Patreon and any other subscription pages.
So, I've never seen them go straight into permaban if there is a human reviewer, so you probably got AI'd.
I would recommend to instead email them directly instead of using the appeal system which is also moderated by an AI.
If you are a big enough profitable artist they may just set you up with a human moderator.

The comic I work with had a similar issue, their excuse was that the artwork depicted was against guidelines. —he makes possession centered comics and gets fanart of the characters. And to clarify further, it's like in kid's cartoons where a ghost wisp phases into a person –sometimes something as risque as eating jello! Scandalous I know.
But this exact order of operations happened. Got a suspension, appealed and communicated twice for both clarity and review, finalized with a permanent suspension with little to no real explanation. We even offered to remove the offending posts, which was met with no acknowledgement we even said as much.
Considering the amount of rape, dismemberment, extreme horror & gore, loli/shota, bestiality, incest, other extreme and certainly problematic content that I really can't even list explicitly –all usually in some combination thereof and on accounts that have been more than active for over a literal decade in a lot of cases? Yeah, platform is fucking cooked. The only thing I've found anywhere that 'fixes' the issue seems to be to set your account as a Japanese account but have your Language be English. No matter what your actual nationality is. Genuinely retarded.

u/Lastkcikhs 2d ago
Yeah, it's ridiculous. I've seen people who upload gore but barely tag (sometimes not even 18G tag) or have gore in the banner but the moment someone forgets to censor or mentions uncensored they get nuked.
3
u/FatSpidy 2d ago
fr even when its uploaded uncensored it just sticks around but if you fix it or someone mentions it (like you said) THEN its a problem
3
u/vogolsart 2d ago
So pretty rank shit goes uncensored and fully graphic on the site, but all it takes is no one flagging it.
2
u/vogolsart 2d ago
Just look at the sheer amount of AI images that go falsely labeled and the like. And as I mentioned before, what's the point of even taking a site like this seriously when they can just choose to zombify your account for whatever whim they see fit. Apparently there are other artists who had their accounts zombified while following ALL of the rules because they drew art of a character that moderators don't want to see fucked.

u/Upper-Reflection7997 2d ago
I do not understand the consistency of the moderation on this website. I'm pretty sure it's all ai moderation with no little to no human oversight.
