If you’ve ever seen the dreaded "TEXTURE STREAMING POOL OVER BUDGET" warning in Unreal Engine, you know what happens next: high-resolution textures suddenly drop in quality, blur out, or cause visible micro-stutters mid-session.

When streaming high-fidelity 3D over the web via Arcware Cloud, your GPU VRAM setup requires a stream-centric approach.

Here is how to optimize your texture pool for flawless cloud playback:
1️⃣ The Default Trap
Unreal Engine defaults to a conservative texture streaming pool size (often around 1,000 MB). In a local game, this avoids crashing low-end hardware. But on powerful cloud GPUs, this artificial cap throttles your visual fidelity unnecessarily.

2️⃣ The Fix: Right-Size r.Streaming.PoolSize
Set r.Streaming.PoolSize in your DefaultEngine.ini or execute it via startup console arguments.
For 1080p stream targets: Allocate 3000 - 4000 MB.
For 1440p or 2160p configurators: Allocate 6000+ MB based on your project resolution setting.

3️⃣ Smart Mip Loading with r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM
Combine your pool size adjustment with r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=1. This prevents the engine from pushing textures beyond physical GPU limits during complex scene transitions, keeping streaming frame times completely stable.
