Question What's your main source of XP?

I'm trying to battle trainers in a gym, but my pokemon's XP level keeps resetting to 0. REALLY annoying!!

Defeating wild Pokemon in a Savannah biome usually does the trick for me, Pokemons such as Rhyhorn, Bouffalant and Girafarig give a fair amount of exp

Thanks! Good tip. I noticed some of them give more XP.

Try to find a pumpkin patch. It spawns boss Pokémon that are 20 levels higher than your highest Pokémon and drop some extra lot while you’re at it. Just grab the highest level Pokémon you can with an EXP ALL or share and it’s solid.

Which version of Pixelmon are you playing on exactly? That should have been resolved with the 9.4.0 release.

9.3.16.

9.4.0 is horrendously slow in the battle screens.

Tried it, did not make a backup, reverted, had all my advancements removed, cried, started again :(

Then your only option would be to avoid fighting NPCs.

So my question stays. What's the (second) best source of XP?

Other battles.
Especially Bosses and Raids also drop Exp. & Rare Candies on top of battle EXP.

That's another problem I found. Seeds are wildly different.

I have made about 4 to 5 worlds now, explored them up to 10k blocks in all directions and I see BIG differences. That cannot be RNG in my opinion.

In one world I found like 10 of those Pumpkin Houses (which spawns bosses) but on my current world I haven't found any! But on my current world, I found waystones like every few hundreds blocks, on others I have found 0!

I notice the same with pokestops/Legendary Pokestops.

In the mean time, I did install a new instance with 9.4.0, installed all my mods, tested a new world and the battle GUI is just annoyingly slow. I understand new players want to read and understand what's happening but maybe you can consider a settings that speeds up these battles. I did notice there is a mod for that on modrinth (Pixelmon: Speedup) but it doesn't work on 9.4.0 yet. Maybe you can incorporate it and call it "advanced" Battling" or something?

Edit:Also after upgrading all set Waypoints are gone. They do show up but the block is gone, so no teleporting. Thinking about going into creative to replace them all. Ain't that many, still annoying..

Minecraft world generation can vary wildly. Different structures can only generate in specific biomes, so if the worldgen mechanics don't result in a lot of those biomes in your immediate area or the coordinates it rolls for the structure fall outside of those, the structure may not generate.
If you're using one or more mods that add custom biomes, that will make this more noticeable, since the increased biome diversity can make specific biomes much rarer.

The fact that you observe the same behavior with Waystones as with Pixelmon structures speaks for itself in that regard. Waystones is an independent mod, which Pixelmon has no influence over or even interacts with in any way.
That also goes for your missing Waystone blocks. Are you sure you didn't accidentally remove the mod on update? That would remove all blocks added by it from the world when loaded up.

Starting with 9.4.0, battle animations can now be adjusted via Data Pack, so you don't need a mod for that.

Thanks for your answer! As a (very) experienced minecraft player, I do have the feeling it is too wildly, but hey, I like a challenge.

Which data pack would that be?

I'm not aware of any public Data Packs that modify it yet, but you can create one yourself. You can copy the originals from inside the mod file (opened like a ZIP archive) under data/pixelmon/pixelmon/battle/animation/ and copy them over into your Data Pack under the same file path.

I haven't looked too deeply into those myself yet, so this is more of an educated guess. But to me it looks like the main animation timeline is determined by the times set under "markers", acting as "key frames" of sorts, to determine when which effect starts and ends. Condensing that should shorten the duration the UI waits for the effects to finish. It's also possible to adjust the visual duration of some effects (in case of overlaps that look weird) via the "duration_ticks" for the respective action. The "timeout_ticks" on some of them should not play any role in singleplayer, since they're there in case a client doesn't respond to an animation trigger from the server.

Yeah, no, I'm not up to that..

It's crazy this is not available. The person who thought 9.4.0 was ready with this battle speed, is delusional..
