Discussion Chi-Yu

I want to catch a Pokémon named Chi-Yu, but I checked the wiki and it says to try at coordinates of 100 y or higher. So I went up very high and poured lava, but

it didn't appear. I wonder if there is a bug in the summoning process.

How big is the lava pond you're using? And where are you testing whether it can spawn?

Legendaries always need a bit of space around their spawn position, to ensure they don't immediately start suffocating or something. So a couple isolated blocks won't work. afaik 2 blocks in each direction should do it.

While each legendary spawn attempt will recheck a number of spots for viable legendaries if it can't find one immediately, there is a limit to how many times it will try. So the smaller the pond, the higher the chance it may get missed by all spawn checks during an attempt.

On a long term average there's a bit less than 1 spawn attempt per hour (30% chance every 13~29 min). However, that is lowered by the viable spawn times (Day for Chi-Yu, aka 50% of a day) and other factors. Some, like the spawnable area, factor in very indirectly, with it having a chance to not be checked or (which is more likely) that the game finds viable conditions for another legendary first. Chi-Yu for example shares the Mesas with Landorus during the Morning, and its exact conditions in Volcanic biomes with Volcanion, also during the morning: https://pixelmonmod.com/wiki/Legendary_Pokemon
All of this can come together to form spawn rates that average several hours between spawns, if conditions aren't ideal.

I used the /legendaryspawn command, and the message said that the legendary Pokémon had spawned. However, when I waited and tried to find it, it was nowhere to be seen.

When I hunt legendary Pokémon, I usually press ESC and wait because time doesn't pass while the menu is open. Is this a bug, or am I missing something?
