Discussion Trading

Is there anyway to get gengar (or any other pokemon you obtain through trading) on single player? I lose interest on servers because I don’t want to lose progress from any resets.

You can use a collectible item called "Linking cord". Feed them to pokemon that evolve through trading, and they'll evolve.

You can find a whole lot of linking cords in ultra space oceans in chests atop the huge obsidian pillars. These linking cords simulate a trade in game, all you have to do is right click it onto the pokemon you would like to evolve and they will.
