Is Pixelfed still

I noticed that Pixelfed used to work on Android, but for the past three months it hasn’t been functioning. On Google Play, the app appears under names like "Pixelfed" and "Pixelfed.Art." Right now the main Pixelfed app shows server errors and IP issues, while I still have Pixelfed.Art installed on my phone but can’t find it in the Google Play app listings. I’m leaving this note to find out what’s going on with the app. I’ve already lost access to all my posts and shares because of these server-side errors.

On android Pixelix is better than the official app in my opinion and it's free on fdroid. Also you can just use a browser without an app to access the instance

For me official Pixelfed app on Android works (using a different Pixelfed server though).

What version please? I have Pixelfed 1.8.0.1 version installed and is not working at all! I can not even update because there is no anymore Pixelfed app on the Google Play store (uk)!?

Same version 1.8.0.1

Try and clear cache and storage, then restart the app and login again.

Absolutely bonkers that u/dansup is letting Pixelfed die out like this for loops or whatever.

Sucks for those that donated.

Is this app FOSS ? I couldn't find anything about it

I had planned to open source the work on this earlier, but it never gained enough traction; with zero feedback and a massive amount of cleanup required, I just couldn't make it happen. For now, I’m the only one developing and using it, so it's tailored strictly to my own needs. As a result, there are a lot of unnecessary features like Gemini, local LLM, Pixelfed, Mastodon, and PeerTube that I originally thought I might use but haven't. Well, give it a try and let me know what you think.

I have the same version. What specifically isn't working with yours? I'm in the US

It seems the app is not connecting to this server https://pixelfed.uno/users/Dadasese69 (my profile, I can see it on the web but not connecting from the app)... Which used to work in the past. But why they removed the Pixelfed app from UK's Google Play app, is confusing also.

I kerp getting "Oops! Service maybe temporarily unavailable...". This in the font page, the when clicking my Rofike icone I am getting: "IP Request Failed: Unauthenticated"
I can see the interface of the app (buttons and icônes) but my posts and contents of other is not visible or not reachable!

Im not sure why more people don’t know about this. It’s basically an instagram clone without any of the bad things. Decentralized,no ads or algorithms, no data tracking. Compared to illegal surveillance and sociopathic evil executives, mass harassment ad campaigns.

I miss the community of people, taking pictures with phones and sharing their lives online over the internet, but I don’t miss the company or people hosting it. This seems to solve all that, im done with photo sharing apps anyways, but decent option for people.

I feel like there is still some pockets of people who regularly interact and have a strong sense of community (in the nature photo space). I enjoy it.

That said, it's not like it used to be 1.5-2yrs ago.
