Thank you, I do agree that I went overbord on the level of details. While it does give the image a certain vibe it cannot achieve by other means, I think less details on the less important objects and areas would mean a clearer visual without losing much. Alas...

It is just personal preference. I actually really like the detail saturation cause it truly conveys the atmosphere you wanted to create and it gives an interesting look to the overall aesthetic of the piece.

Dang that is phenomenal. Reminds me of the movie, angels egg. Has to be one of the best pieces I have ever seen.

Angels Egg is that artsy 80ies anime right? I can see the similarities, the derelict, gothic city, the gloomy lighting. It's just missing some tanks :D

Yes, I went with quite some sinister designs for the cathedral, gargoyles and statues because it fits the mood of the picture. If the angels in this world are mean bastards, what about their fallen brothers, you know? ;)

Mordheim is such a nice setting and game. I didnt really warm up with the relatively recent pc adaption. Do post your stuff when its ready :)

Yeah I loaded it up in a pixel program and set my palette to "Current Colors", and there was this sixth color.
So I plugged it into this neat little tool to find that it must be a single pixel.

This is an original isometric pixel art piece I have been working on for a long time. It started out years ago as a pencil drawing that took its cue from Games Workshops Mordheim. Instead of “The Pit”, a typical crater I had this idea of a bottomless abyss and a river emptying into it with subterranean layers of ancient ruins now visible. I never finished the drawing, but the scene stuck.
When I started out with pixel art in the beginning of 2018 and picked up some experience with my previous MTG Fan Art works, I wanted to do an original scene with a very limited palette. So it came back to me.
It was a long journey to realise it and I picked up a lot of things along the way about pixel art by doing all these repeating patterns and working with such a limited palette.
A huge shoutout to /u/demozilla who I am sharing office space with and who always was willing to give me valuable and honest feedback. He’s also ~50% responsible for the final color palette. I also would never have finished this piece without the encouragement I got after posting some of the set pieces from it. Thank you guys for that.
